I think most of us could care less what someone's sexual preference is. The problem seems to be in the media. They really seem to be pushing this stuff down our throats. Why? My guess is population control. JMO though.

Go on

Is being heterosexual your choice? Or, to use StoVol's example, is liking biscuits over mayo your choice? It may seem like it is, but the fact of the matter is that you have no clue why you like biscuits over mayo (or vice versa). You just do, and you have no way of accounting for it, just like you have no why of accounting for why you're heterosexual and why someone else is homosexual. If it's all simply a choice, we'd be able to account for these differences. But we can't.

This. The best "I was born this way" argument I ever heard was when someone asked me when I chose to be straight.

Ignorance...

I disagree. I'm well informed on what a gay person is, and I don't really care to watch them play football.

And if I played football, I wouldn't want to play with them.

Hate to break it to you but you've been watching many gay men play football for years. Sam will just be the first to talk about it to the media and public.

How's this. Choosing to be gay is just like any other sin. Supporting it is just like supporting any other sin. Accepting it just like accepting any other sin. We will all stand before our Creator one day and will give an account of our actions. If you want to ignore that fact or just choose to not believe it then that's your choice. Love the person, hate the sin.

I would take an all-gay defense if there were 11 players playing like Sam playing last year. The guy is a monster and I, for one, am glad the first openly gay NFL hopeful is a stereotype shattering defensive bad ass.

Good for him.

Mentally, I can't support a gay man playing football. If I've been duped then that doesn't bother me because I didn't know they were gay.

For the record, my views only apply to football (sports). This is an entertainment business, and I don't want to be entertained by openly gay players

You ever met a gay person? Any gay people in your family? Have any gay friends? I know a few gay people and I'll 100% guarantee you they didn't chose to be gay, they were born that way.

You lost me at fact.

You keep bringing the naturalist argument to this. If a person is not one and chooses to have an authority on a more cerebral plane than believing that man cannot control or modify sexual behavior there is nothing left to say. The next logical argument would be for unfettered sexuality 'naturally' flows to bestiality and pedophilia. The restraints on most behavior in many cultures, including this one trace pretty far back.

Call it for what it is - an agenda to develop a separate class of people that is protected under the law regardless of that class' long term effect on society. I will simple reference the former Roman Empire and leave it there. Nothing new under the sun.

Then let gays have equal rights and if we're wrong, then those of us who support it will be judged in the end. What's it going to matter to you if you don't support it? You'll fare no worse in the end times. Until then, I don't really care.

Volprof, You is a perfect example of the point I was attempting to make. No one will change You's views on the subject and he likely cannot change anyones opposing view. Its simply something we are predisposed to. Acceptance cannot be forced.
