"There's no telling how good they can be..."

Tennessee has been the beneficiary of incredibly fortuitous timing. We hired one of the most dynamic offensive minds and leader of young men right at the same time that NIL came on the scene and the portal basically allowed free agency. Tennessee was one of the first out of the gate realizing the potential of NIL with Spyre.
We basically caught the rest of CFB flat footed and stole one to two seasons of talent we normally would not have been in the running for. And we turned that talent over to maybe the best young coach in America. It was the perfect storm at the perfect time. That is what has allowed us to have the chance of going from the basement to the penthouse in less than 2 seasons. The normal 5 to 7 years it would take to rebuild a program as badly depleted as ours has been was shortened to a blink of the eye. And no other program in the country was poised to jump on the opportunity as we were. Hats off the AD White who saw a once in a lifetime opportunity to flip the script and who took the leap with gusto. We now have a world in which we can have access to top talent right at the same time that talent wants to come here and play for maybe the next GOAT.
Who on this years team do you think is because of NIL? I believe this team is really built without benefit of NIL which is scary for the rest of the CFB world.

The thing about the Bama game is that the team did not panic. In the past the scoop and score would have led to a meltdown. The composure of the team this year is incredible. As a fan watching, my stomach was in knots over the anxiety that a game like this brings - I keep waiting for the hammer to fall on us - but the resolve in coming back to tie the score after that miscue showed me this team is really good.
Same here, I said oh well we gave them a game for awhile. However, this team and staff is different. Every one would have folded there in the past 15 years. They would have taken a knee at 17 seconds and play for ot. This is a new Tn and I love us.

If you think about it this is the second time Heupel has helped a program rise from the dead; before he became OK's QB the Sooners sucked hind tit.

Small and Wright are running hard and having success - don’t understand the obsession with our 3rd string r who almost got our qb killed 2 weeks back. Personally, I hope he doesn’t play in over 4 games so they can red shirt him.
Kids don't take redshirt years anymore, they transfer for playing time

And that is a testament to coaching.

No one on current team, but the 2023 wave that is giving us Nico and a slew of other top talent is NIL heavy. That is the first class I meant when I spoke of stealing classes from other programs

So here's what worries me:
1) This season has been / is going to be special and totally unprecedented with Hooker at QB driving the success. I totally expect a small step back next year when a new starter is installed...I hope and pray our fans don't revolt and riot when we don't start 6-0.
2) The comparisons to 2019 LSU are great, but I hope beyond hope that we don't fall off the ledge like that team and program did...new coach only 2 yrs from a national title.

Heupel is not Ed Orgeron. He's less mouth, more brain.

Tillman or no Tillman, we can't be better offensively than we were Saturday--scoring 52 in regulation. That's pretty much topping out.
So to get better means being better defensively. It's fun to score 50, but you'd rather not HAVE TO to win a game.
Not so fast.

We had two turnovers, a failed 4th down attempt, and a punt—we got a turnover on the punt, so that one does not count.

Net, That right there is 21 more points.

We left two touchdowns on the field I can remember: 1) an overthrown ball to a wide open receiver who stopped running in the first half, and 2) an overthrown ball in the end zone to an open receiver on a fourth down. We could have had 63.

I made a comment about this team (offense) being "like" the Burrow led L.S.U. team..... and the more I see this team, the more confident I feel this team can accomplish the same thing as that one.

The whole world is talking about us. Friend in Australia texted me about the game. It is crazy what some quality wins will do for Tennessee football and the fans!

Same. All my high school buds from ATL that went to UGA are concerned. They try to mask it in their texts a little bit, but it's there. They watched that exhibition against LSU and Bama and they know they have their work cut out for them.

Nico Iamaleava looks like a great fit for this offense. We are only seeing a teaser of what this offense will eventually be under Heupel.

I got congrats from Boston, Columbus OH, Lexington, Guntersville, Dallas, etc. Saban and Bama have created a level of disdain maybe not seen in college sports before. Notre Dame is a national brand with many detractors. However, Bama is regional but has been so over exposed and has created a fan base that is so arrogant and spoiled that it has no grasp of reality.

At around the 3:00 minute mark, the commentator starts talking about how CJH got the right guys to "plug" into his "system."

That is the antithesis of what CJH has said multiple times. CJH has said/says that he adapts the play to the skill set of the players he has.

There isn't a Heupel system. There is CJH adapating to the skill sets of his players.

Not sure theses guys know anything substantial about our coach.

Sorry, not trying to be a Debbie downer, it is high praise for sure. But to call what CJH and staff do a system is kind of insulting IMO.

Go Vols!

I don't know that the offense can get much better. 52 pts against Bama is a once in a 100 years happening. About the only position on offense we can improve on would be RB. The greatest improvements will come on defense. We should focus on pressuring the QB and ball hawks in the secondary 'cause teams are going to have to pass often vs us. Bryce Young threw it 52 times and he had arguably the best RB in college football
