. . . CJH has said/says that he adapts the play to the skill set of the players he has . . .
"He ain't wrong."
Loved these quotes about Heupel and Tennessee.
"He has a fan base and a state that are fanatical about football. If he can really keep this train on the tracks going, there's no telling how good they can be, not just this season, but in the years to come."
"I can't wait to see what Tennessee is going to do in two or three years on offense when they get on the recruiting trail. With all this cachet that's built up behind them and of course the NIL program they've got going on there, recruiting is about to skyrocket in Knoxville. The banks of the Tennessee river are about to overflow with talent, so imagine what they could be accomplishing here in a couple of years."
Also an interesting comparison to 2019 LSU.

I think I may have mis-represented my point in sharing the article."He ain't wrong."
LOL. He gave an opinion which can certainly be disputed ... but that is not even the point.
That column was a very lazy, and shallow take on Tennessee's season through 6 games. What makes Tennessee a good story right now involves so much more than what can be quantified with statistical rankings. Heupel is 19 games into a rebuild and has his team in the top 5 of both polls. Tennessee was 3-7 two years ago, with one of the worst offenses in college football. On top of that, we lost 30 players to transfer after Pruitt was fired. Heupel wasn't even hired until late January. He had virtually no time at all to salvage the class of '21. Is any of that mentioned? No. The guy basically wants to point out that we probably won't win the SEC .... Well, big $hit. We were never expected to!!!!
However, finishing 11-1 with a loss to Georgia and a college football playoff bid would still be possible... but of course, that wasn't mentioned either.
There will always be posters with some bull $hit to complain about, even in the best of times. Pathetic.
Florida bit him hard and just about cost him. Ever since he has been full throttle.I told someone yesterday the same thing. 90% of the coaches in that situation against that opponent would have took a knee and went to overtime. I love CJH and his foot on the gas pedal mentality. The players definitely feed off of his aggressiveness.
WeTillman or no Tillman, we can't be better offensively than we were Saturday--scoring 52 in regulation. That's pretty much topping out.
So to get better means being better defensively. It's fun to score 50, but you'd rather not HAVE TO to win a game.
I'm more concerned about the number of seniors starting for us now...Some will have a covid year and could return, but we could potentially lose a LOT of production for next year...So here's what worries me:
1) This season has been / is going to be special and totally unprecedented with Hooker at QB driving the success. I totally expect a small step back next year when a new starter is installed...I hope and pray our fans don't revolt and riot when we don't start 6-0.
2) The comparisons to 2019 LSU are great, but I hope beyond hope that we don't fall off the ledge like that team and program did...new coach only 2 yrs from a national title.
We have seen the brakes used too much, are we seeing CJH learn? I think so based on some of his recent statements about coaches got to do better.

Yep…got to pick up the crashing pressure and block it to protect the QB. That’s keeping him on the sidelines possibly for the rest of the year (barring injury etc).Small and Wright are running hard and having success - don’t understand the obsession with our 3rd string r who almost got our qb killed 2 weeks back. Personally, I hope he doesn’t play in over 4 games so they can red shirt him.
My son wears UT gear all the time and never gets asked about UT. He gets asked a 1/2 dozen questions yesterday from coaches and people he bumped into. We live in NC.
I wanna score more than the GT record on every game of every year.Tillman or no Tillman, we can't be better offensively than we were Saturday--scoring 52 in regulation. That's pretty much topping out.

Na, you’re either a winner or you aren’t. Regardless of NIL, if you don’t start pulling some upsets in year one and beating folks in year two, it’s not gonna happen.Tennessee has been the beneficiary of incredibly fortuitous timing. We hired one of the most dynamic offensive minds and leader of young men right at the same time that NIL came on the scene and the portal basically allowed free agency. Tennessee was one of the first out of the gate realizing the potential of NIL with Spyre.
We basically caught the rest of CFB flat footed and stole one to two seasons of talent we normally would not have been in the running for. And we turned that talent over to maybe the best young coach in America. It was the perfect storm at the perfect time. That is what has allowed us to have the chance of going from the basement to the penthouse in less than 2 seasons. The normal 5 to 7 years it would take to rebuild a program as badly depleted as ours has been was shortened to a blink of the eye. And no other program in the country was poised to jump on the opportunity as we were. Hats off the AD White who saw a once in a lifetime opportunity to flip the script and who took the leap with gusto. We now have a world in which we can have access to top talent right at the same time that talent wants to come here and play for maybe the next GOAT.
My kids just got some vintage wear a month or so ago and are loving it. It is in fashion.I busted out my 90s era Starter coat this morning. Notice, I said coat and not jacket. I'm talking the old school pull over crack dealer coats with the hand muffs in front. It was a bit chilly in the Dallas area so the stars aligned.
What's old is new and what's new is old.

I think he learned his lesson against Florida. That game was on its way to a blowout and he took the foot off the gas and almost blew it. From now on, all gas no brakes. We have seen the brakes used too much, are we seeing CJH learn? I think so based on some of his recent statements about coaches got to do better.
