Anyone who thinks there is a penalty to harsh for PSU should really check themselves. Multiple little boys were raped and the LEADERS of the school not only turned a blind eye, they covered it up for at least 14 years.
I doubt there's anyone that likes sports as much as me. But sanctity of children has GOT to come first. I'm so upset about this entire situation. Sandusky and all those who covered for him should have to face these boys families and friends. Hell they should have to face all of us as well. I'm stunned at how we as a nation fail our children time and again. I never like Matt Millon but after today I hope he catches a horrible disease and dies a slow painful death. Again, there's not a punishment to harsh for PSU. If you thinks so I pray for you and hope that you do an introspective and realize what's really important in life.
Of all the people at ESPN Mark May was spot on.

We dont always see eye to eye on things, but this I will agree with you

Talk is talk and jabber is jabber and it's a lot of fun. I like going at it with you and some of the others. But this is humanity we're talking about. The most vulnerable amongst us. I love UT but if this happened at UT I'd call for the same.

It would be the right thing to do.

Let's see a list of what you'd prefer happen to them.

I'm curious how emotionally biased your thoughts are on this.

Self-imposed 3 year bowl ban
Scholarship reductions for 3 years
Self-imposed TV ban for 3 years
Removal of all parties with any connection to cover up with lifetime ban from any coaching capacities or over seeing of any athletic department

I agree fully. This entire situation as a shame, but people are letting the fact that it involved children cloud their rational judgement.

Destroying an entire athletics department over a crime that should be dealt with by our nation's legal system is an emotional reaction and not based in the intellectual realm such a delicate decision deserves.

To Protect a Football Program

And its not going to destroy Penn State or other sports

Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and Brown are the most prestigious universities in this country. They have made it without a powerful football program

You're not removing your emotions yet.

Why not have the university self impose the following:

Establish, operate, and maintain a community outreach type operation that raises awareness about sexual predators.

Create a systematic approach to where students, athletes, and all other personell actively participate in coordination with other local and state agencies for the betterment and quality of life for minors who have suffered sexual abuse.

Provide and facilitate peer counscling programs on campus for families and youths that have suffered from these atrocities.

Participate in local and state fundraising opportunities for the development of help centers designed to accommodate victims that are older and suffer long term effects of this type of abuse.

Developement and designate a learning center on campus and allow for course studies specifically designed towards the long term effects of sexual predators and research the criminology aspect of that in order to identify and diagnose potential predators prior to them conducting their crimes.

How bout spreading awareness and attempting to provide more solutions and conssessions rather than not playing a effing football game on Saturday?

Let's help more people rather than punish those left behind in the rubble created by few.

That harsh enough?

Not enough for me. I'm not a big believer in self training or self directed programs to establish a better culture.

Bowl ban for 4 years.

50% reduction in football scholarships for the next 4 years.

In addition to paying the financial penalties to the victims to be decided in courts, 500 million dollar penalty going to a trust fund which will support programs for abuse victims, disabled and disadvantaged children.

The judicial system did it's job. Why can't you people separate your emotions from what's within the legalities?

And WTF is wrong with what I proposed? No one want to take a high road on this and try to make a positive out of this situation, or all we all still at the "burn it to the ground" stage?

Ive got news for you. There is no high road in this situation and Wtf is wrong is that the offense was so egregious and systemic they shouldn't get to self impose anything.
