These Vols can't beat Kentucky

All opponents will have to do this year is foul us. We can't shoot foul shots. We show boat and give the other team points. I hope we can get these problems corrected, but beating KY and a final 4 appearance is probably out of reach. I hope I am wrong, but right now a top 10 ranking at the end of the season and Sweet 16 or Elite 8 appearance would be a very successful year for this team.

WOW... I hate what you wrote.... I didn't say I disagreed, just I hated it.... ha ha... we are in trouble if we don't wake up soon with what Ky showed against UNC

Excellent article.

But about UK, you have to forget they then let UNC almost beat them and make it a game. I wasn't too surprised that a very, very young UNC team went down big in the first half.

It should be noted that Kentucky almost blew the lead in the second half.

good article. Our team has talent, they just aren't clicking yet. Hopefully they find it before league play. I think Chism has to be the rock, the consistent one, and if he can find that 15 and 10 that he is more than capable of every night we will be in every game. It will be up to Tyler/Hopson/Tatum to get hot and push us over the the top.

Defensively we just aren't good enough. JP is a liability, really on both sides of the court. Goins looks to defend better than Maze, but Maze creates a little better in the lane (albeit out of control half the time). Williams has been much more of a factor off the bench already this season and I predict that he will continue to improve now that he is in reasonable playing shape. Kenny Hall looked like he was capable of contributing against ETSU with some nice play on the offensive glass, but that was ETSU, not KU or UK. McBee hustles and can spot up, but its obvious he is at least a step too slow to guard the opposing team's athletic 2 guard, and he still doesn't move enough without the ball to create his own shot.

A lot of work still to be done before this team is ready to compete with UK, but like your article said that UK ceiling is very high, I think this Vol team has very high potential too, and I'm not sure Calipari is any better at getting the most out of his players than Pearl is. Should be a fun season in the SECeast.

Didn't UNC get killed by MSU also???? That must mean Florida is just as good as Kentucky if not better....I have a hard time buying that. Beating a very young UNC team at home is not a measuring stick for greatness. Yeah Kentucky looked great but its a long season.

I've seen nothing yet to suggest the Vols will improve on their one-and-done last year in the NCAA tourney.

Uh, not really. Matter of fact UNC beat MSU pretty handily not that that means much. As for being young, I watched the game and UK started three freshmen, one soph and one jr. I would say overall that they were pretty young also.

Yeah you are right, I was thinking about Syracuse. If you think UNC beat MSU handly you must have not watched the game. It was a few key rebounds late in the game and some wide open missed 3's that won that game for UNC, at UNC. I don't care who UK started, if the game was in Chapel Hill the outcome would have been different. Playing at home with a young team has a huge advantage. Its amazing how much some UT fans spend time talking up UK. Go jump on their bandwagon.

Can't beat them RIGHT NOW, the WAY THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING, MUST IMPROVE....LOL
Face it, Griff. You're an anti semite who resents the fact Bruce Pearl has a new wife and occasionally wears body paint. Those are the only possible explanations as to why anyone would even imply that Pearl is not a combination of Wooden, Auerbach, Churchill, and Mandela who will win the next 15 National Championships. You are what the hip children call a "hater."

Oh, ye of little faith.
Let's just wait and see how the Vols do against KY before prognosticating doom and gloom. If we don't show faith in our team, how are they supposed to have faith in themselves?

Sorry, should have indicated my post was sarcasm. To question CBP is to be a hater with a vicious agenda like Hat notes. See any thread in this forum to learn how your doubt makes you a bigot.

If the performance of the team is affected in any way by posts on an Internet message board, then we have bigger problems than I thought.

Bruce should be fired if that is true.
