Let me tell you that the general consensus of Big Blue Nation (myself included) are more concerned about our Border War than we were w/Carolina, UConn or UofJail.
Those of you that our naysayers & backin down on your team---not so fast....... THIS IS A RIVALRY & either team can be havin a down year & BOOYAH outta the gate....they won't play that way. We expect no less from Tenn----> & You're far from having a down year.
Gettin hot w/those 3's ..... MAJOR MAJOR CONCERN!!!

I'm lovin the status quo---- things are getting back to their natural order & the gators have had their 15 min. of fame.
Now it's time to get it on & show this conference what real basketball looks like.

Most of the posts on this article are focusing more on Kentucky than UT. Griff was comparing the UK vs. UT matchup this year to what it was like in Pearl's first few seasons. He's saying that we overcame the talent gap between us & UK back then with hunger & determination. We're more talented than we were then, but we've lost that edge that comes with years of losing. Where are all the scrappy players, the lockdown defenders, the ones who fought for rebounds? They were replaced with athletic guys who are a little soft. There are no guys who played above their talent level like Dane Bradshaw or JaJuan Smith, and there are no tough defenders like Josh Tabb or even Duke Crews.

I don't know what it will take to get that edge back. But we can't play the "controlled chaos" without players who are willing to fight for the ball. To answer Griff's question about players staying late after practice. The two that I read that stayed late after practice this week were Smith and Hopson. More need to do the same. I'm hoping a visit from Kansas will wake this team up.

Anything can happen against a young team like Kentucky, however, they should get better and better as the year goes on. If it comes right down to talent or coaching, the Vols can't beat Kentucky. If inexperience shines through, it's possible but doubtful on paper. Dickie V has Florida ahead of Tennessee in the conference.

Welcome to VN and just because your a UK fan doesn't mean we don't want to hear your opinion or input. The more educated basketball heads we have, the better the conversations. As for Kansas, I sure hope so!!!

I sure hope it's way before that. A beat down at the Phog is understandable but to come in TBA and do the same is down right embarrasing. I think this is probably new to Pearl though. If you look at the type of players we've had, most had a chip on their shoulder (Lofton being rejected in the Bluegrass State, Jujuan from Walk-on to Scholly, Bradshaw, no respect, undersized), these players just don't have that. Winning and an NCAA tournament championship should be enough though.

Lofton should have beaten UK at least one time in every year he was here. I base that on ability and not "a chip on his shoulder". A freshman with a chip on the shoulder doesn't just beat UK.
