Then in my opinion a flat rate with zero deductions, credits, differentiating types of income and withholding is where we need to focus our attention.
We are talking about wealth, income, and taxes in conjunction with the effects of wealth/income inequalities. The effects of those inequalities would be paramount to the discussion. If the argument is regarding wealth, income; and taxes, it seems like the most important metric. Is that not this so all about?

lol....The massive wealth/income inequalities invariably and understandably lead to wealth envy. The two are inseparable, especially when the system is perceived as unfair.Just call it what it is, wealth or income envy. The actual gap in wealth or income between what person one has vs person two does not affect their lives. Their envy of what person 1 has is leading to their poor decisions.
But would I? What is your incentive for being in business? You have to allow deductions otherwise you’re decentivizing private business and incentivizing employment
For example I have to deduct all the materials and labor I pay on this rental I’m working on. Otherwise you’re disadvantaging me by taxing me at a greater rate than an employee of someone else who earns similar income
Simple. Straightforward. Equal.Bear in mind I would eliminate all other forms of federal taxation (not including tariffs and fees) so I would say between 15 and 20%. Individuals and corporations would fill out a 2 line tax return and mail a check once per year.
Should we have a head tax? Take the budget and divide among everyone of voting age and that is the tax paid? We all benefit from national defense, roads, courts, etc. Why should anyone overpay for the services equally benefitting everyone?
They would owe the government money. The government would garnish wages and sell assets. It’s an interesting concept but what about those who truly can’t pay their fair share?

I think the "equally benefitting everyone" concept would generate a little dissentionShould we have a head tax? Take the budget and divide among everyone of voting age and that is the tax paid?
