They just don't get it . . .

Trapped illegal means no longer bothering to get out but STILL being a burden on taxpayers. Hmmm.

:lolabove: Yes and we KNOW that all of them are so desperate to go home. You asked what the fence would do for the already millions who are here. Do the simple math, if no more are allowed to come in we can begin to assimilate the ones that are already here. If we do nothing and leave the border open MILLION upon MILLIONS more will enter illegally. The real issue here is Mexico and what they refuse to do for their own people. They feel it is our duty to feed, clothe and educate them. NO, that is MEXICO’S JOB, not ours.

WELL IT IS TIME FOR THE MAN! LOU DOBBS IS ON CNN RIGHT NOW PUTTING PEOPLE LIKE CS TO SHAME! EVERYONE GO WATCH.

P.S. I am still reading the bill. At the rate I am going I should get done with it sometime next month.

Stems the tide to some degree? So illegals still come in but just go through other entry points? Kind of like the Chinese into West Coast ports or Eastern Europeans through East Coast ports? Or Mexicans through tunnels? Or through corrupt border guards (see recent news for facts on that)? Don't forget the Canadian border as well.

Trapped illegal means no longer bothering to get out but STILL being a burden on taxpayers. Hmmm.

You missed my point on why bother.
I got the point, but you were using the argument earlier to argue for supplanting the current law.

If you had paid attention to what I said is my concern you would know that I want the border secured. Once these imbeciles have proven they can do that then I will be all for hearing their ideas on what to do with the people here. Until then, no thanks.

And if you paid attention to what I've said and what history has shown, you cannot solve this by going after one point on a several point issue.

I've asked you how you'd secure the border or what you'd consider securing the border. It's easy to throw out a blank term "secure the border" but not be specific. It's obvious many people do not understand this concept that it takes quite a bit more than enforcing current laws since we only have a small amount of agents to secure not only the Mexican border but Canada and seaports on two oceans and one gulf.

Until then no thanks? Then you have no problem with the more illegals coming in and adding more a burden. Perhaps you wouldn't mind covering the bill while you wait on the government to prove your point.

Assimilate? Sounds like you're advocating amnesty and wanting them to melt into society.

We are not feeding them, clothing them, and housing them. They're working and paying for all of that themselves. And most of these people will not be citizens. They will no doubt return home to live like kings with the new American currency they've worked for. If they're under temporary work visas, they get taxed and that tax money stays here.

It is a 2 point issue at most. How to stop illegal immigration and what to do with the current illegals. The first point being much more important. I have no problem with more illegals coming in? Please read my main concern again.

Sounds like you're advocating amnesty.

Sounds like your advocating open borders. But since you are unable to answer me I take it you are reexamining your views. I applaud you for that sir. It shows a lot of character.

You just let me know when you are ready to talk. I'll be here for you.

How am I advocating open borders? Please enlighten me how calling for more enforcement, better tools, more money, closing loopholes, and hitting the root of the illegals problem is calling for open borders. Do tell.

I am not changing any view. The status quo has failed and will keep failing. You have to keep going after the full problem. To go with allvol123's example, his plan and the status quo says fix the leak. But this plan only patches one leak when there are leaks everywhere.

I'm ready to talk any time. Forgive me if this issue actually has me working more than 9-5 and taking care of kids adds to the mix.

I'll be waiting on examples from the bill rather than spin from loaded and biased sources like Dobbs. Up to this bill I agreed with him on most issues. But he just doesn't seem to get this one right. Make sure you look at all of the sections and see how this bill tackles quite a few issues. Then we'll talk. Until then keep dreaming the fence works. Sorry but even a dog can figure out how to get past a wall.
