Things Heating Back Up With Selby

BTW, if we land Abraham and Selby, that is definitely the #1 class IMO. I would love to have Selby, he would make an immediate impact. If Woolridge leaves and Pearl doesn't give McBee a scholly (he doesn't deserve it anyways), than we would have room for both these guys.

I thought we have enough room even if Woolridge stays.
We lose Chism, Maze, Prince, Negedu, Smith, Tabb and pick up Maymon, Harris, McRae, Golden, Abraham, and Selby. 6 and 6

It would be crowded:
Selby, Goins, Bone, Golden
Hopson, McRae, McBee
Tatum, Woolridge
Harris, Maymon, Pearl
Williams, Hall, Abraham

Does Negedu end up on a Medical scholly and end up not counting toward the bottom line? Man I wish he could still play. I think he would have been a exellent ball player before he left. I still think he'll be a great player in the game of life.

Pearl laying into McBee so much last night now has context...he's trying to build a case for justifying not giving him a scholarship next year. :eek:lol:

I think this looks better;

Selby, Goins
Tatum, McRae, McBee
Hopson, Woolridge
Harris, Maymon, Pearl
Williams, Hall

Redshirt Abraham and Golden.

Bone to practice squad.

Just curious, but why did you list Bone and not McBee? Bone never sees the court before McBee.

Yeah I like the looks of this.

McBee isn't a PG, and I was already 3 deep at SG. BTW, I think Hopson in the 2, and Tatum in the 3

Yes, I agree, that Golden and Abraham should be redshirted. I was just listing the positions we would have players at, not what I think the actual rotation would be.

Golden's future is at PG, he is a great shooter, but from what a read isn't ready to step in and run an offense just yet - needs to improve his ball handling and defense. And Abraham is just raw.

If it worked out like that, would be a hell of a team for at least the next two-three seasons. Dreaming is always fun. Couldn't imagine my excitement if it actually happened. It's possible but most likely not probable. It ain't over til it's over though! Go Vols!

for sure.

Harris has said that his goal is to go high in the draft after his second year at college. of course who knows whether that will happen or not. I think Hopson thought he would be in better position at this point.

regardless what happens, things are really looking up over the next few seasons.

he won't count next year, so we free up a total of 6 i think (negedu, chism, maze, prince, smith, tabb). that would leave room for abraham and selby, and if one of them doesn't come I suppose McBee will get one. Anyway, i've heard some people speculating we might have a scholarship taken away due to academics, but I haven't heard anything substantive on that.

Yeah maybe. Tatum seems to be a little more physical than Hopson so he might be the better small forward. At least defensively. I just think Hopson would be better off offensively at small forward. I like it when he drives to the basket and I think he's better off getting around an opposing small forward than a shooting guard. Doesn't really matter if you can shoot over someone when you air ball. Hopson should have left his shot alone and stayed with the rainbow. Tatum has been a much better shooter as of late.

I guess it pry doesn't matter too much though. If they are both on the court, their opponent can choose who guards Hopson and Tatum. Basically they are both a mixture of sg/sf.

you are right. i do know that Hopson would play SG at the next level. (if he makes it) he needs to really improve his shot, his ball handling, and his defense.

I think if we get those two, McBee's scholly would come from the APR adjustment.

I hinted last weekend in response to some of your questions that Tennessee--and assistant coach Steve Forbes in particular--have never fallen out of contact with Selby or his mother Maeshon Witherspoon.

From our perspective, that’s not entirely true and as of now I believe that Tennessee is very much in the mix again.

I don't get this... He says they never had lost contact but then says that it is not entirely true, but we are very much still in the mix??? I'm confused...

I thought the same thing...even the paragraph after that had a weird 'but'. Maybe it appears that way because only selections were copied and pasted.

Agreed.... it's just a misprint though. We have not lost contact with Selby at any time other than those mandated no-contact by the NCAA.

I still think he will pick Kansas though.
