Things I Have Built

Thanks!!! I saw that you built one of these Green Egg tables...it looked great. This is my effort at one of those...
Looks a lot like the one I built. Did you use pocket screws in the top? I would take picture of it but it is raining pretty heavy just now.

No pocket screws....at the time I didn't have a pocket screw jig. On that project I did the old tried and true method of filling screws holes with wood putty. I did use trim screws, though, so the holes were smaller. It's hard to see in the picture, but the putty stained a slightly different color so it appears to have several "dots" on top. The pockets screws would be a great change for the looks of the table imo.

Here is mine. Will probably need new top as this one wears but the frame should last a long time. also a couple of work benches

Great work!!

I just started a modified version of the Paulk Worktable tonight. I've literally been working off of saw horses and a sheet of plywood. Lol...

That has been my work table also until these. Wife's Prius may not be able to fit in garage for much longer. LOL

Built this modified "Paulk" workbench to make it easier to build more stuff!!

I'm jealous. I need to build a large work table, complete with clamp mounts and table saw, my wife found some IKEA designs she likes and wants me to build.

Thanks! I'm debating about drilling the dog-holes, but I used the table tonight to build some other benches for against the wall and it was awesome!! Being able to clamp stuff down made the job SO MUCH easier. I'm sure I'll drill the holes, but I dread it. Lol....

My table saw isn't a portable one so I couldn't fit it "into" the table, but I did make the table 1/8-1/4" shorter than the table saw so it's a great outfeed table.

Once I get the wall benches done it's on to the miter saw station. Lol...

Are you calling it modified due to fact it isn't portable? Doesn't look right without all the dog holes. LOL Nice job in any case.

Thanks! Yea...modified because I did several things differently than Ron Paulk did on the original design. Mine certainly isn't portable from my shop, but it's on 3" lockable casters so it's very versatile in the shop. There's also the lower shelf on which I can store things like my air compressor for assembly. I don't need portable as I only do this as a hobby and don't have job sites to which I travel.

I'll probably do the holes, but I dread it because I'll have to do them all by hand with a forstner bit. I don't have a CNC Router so I'm on my own...

I have a few dog holes on mine but will likely add more as they become needed. Will look like swiss cheese soon enough I suspect.

I think laying the holes out will be more problematic than actually drilling them. Drilling them will just be a monotonous pain in the butt!! Lol

Have you found "dogs"? I can't decide if I'll buy them or try to make some with dowel rods.

Yea I bought some Kreg dogs that work very well. Get a set of 4 for 7 bucks. I need to get some clamps that will fit into the holes as well.

I'll probably do the same for the dogs. Sounds like that'd be cheaper than making them.

I'm gonna use the small bar clamps from Harbor Freight ($4-ish) and drill the bottom pin out. Then use a nail or something removable as the pin when using the clamp that way the handle is on top of the table and accessible.

Add a vacuum sanding area as work holding and dust collection.

I'm definitely adding dust collection. In fact, I'm picking up a Delta DC 50-850 this week. I found it and two remotes on CL for $175. I'm gonna add an Oneida Dust Deputy Cyclone to separate larger particles from fine, and I'm going to exhaust the fine particles outside so I can eliminate the need for expensive filters. Plus, I've read exhausting outside and/or eliminating filters will actually maintain a higher level of vacuum because there's nothing to clog up.

I am considering a down-draft area for sanding, but I'm not sure where I can put it. I'll evaluate once I get my shop set up.

Built this counter for a local women's clothing consignment store here in town. It's solid Birch with storage on deep side and display shelves on the other... This one is 6'6" long and there's another that is 3'6". They will sit in a "L" shape with a small corner desk where the cabinets meet... The drawing is not my strong suit but you get the idea...lol.
