Things I'm happy about today

Went to meet a good friend for lunch at DQ. We were talking about everything, and ended up talking about church. There was a guy there close to us cleaning up tables and stuff, but didn't have a uniform on. He had cerebral palsy, but very capable, but you could tell it when I first saw him. He got close to us cleaning, he was with a county work program, and overhead us. He walked up and asked if he could talk to us. We sit there for about 20 minutes just listening to him. He talked about not having anyone, feeling useless because of having to live in the home he was in (for people with issues like him), and how he'd had thoughts of killing himself. We took the opportunity to explain to him that he matters, and he wasn't useless because God still has him here. It was just awesome watching his whole demeanor change as we talked to him. I've met this friend at other times at KFC, but today we both said DQ. God knew we'd be there, he'd be there, and he'd hear us, and we would all be a help to each other. IDK, I just love when moments like that happen, makes me happy.

Free education, room & board. 👍🏼
And depending on which season a sport falls in, a built-in group of people to hang with when you first get to campus.

Older daughter played college soccer and got to campus two weeks before the regular report date. The men's and women's teams were both there practicing, and so she jumped right in. This being engineering school, they socialized by having "calc parties" (she was in calculus II), but still a great intro to college life.

I drove onto campus, seeing it for the first time when I registered. I was assigned a dorm “suite” with three guys from Memphis. My roommate was a douche. He left to take residence with a fraternity (legacy). My suitemates brought over another guy from their high school to be my roommate. He was decent enough. I made it through freshman year befriending folks from Hess Hall down the street.

Roommate vs. Suitemate
and TFG was a Hess Hall occupant

My first year was in Reese. My second year was in Melrose. Third through fifth years were in three different houses on two adjacent blocks of Laurel Ave. Likely, my matriculation ended before TFG was born.

I don't know really, I just remember both being on🤣. My girlfriend at the time watched 90210, so that's the only one I know a little about

I did not watch either show until I moved to DC. One night right after I got there my roommates girlfriend asked if I wanted to go over to her place to watch 90210 and Melrose with her roommates and some friends.

I said I don’t watch that crap. She said, you’ve seen my friends right? I said I’ll be there n 10 minutes.

Melrose Hall had a kitchen in the basement. I prepared numerous meals there. It made for an OK date when I didn’t have the money to go out.
