Things I'm happy about today

A happy-sad-mixed post:

We (Asheville Symphony Chorus) sang this last night, and we KILLED it. A gorgeous piece, a modern (aka mid-20th century) interpretation of Gregorian chant. I'm going on leave from chorus for the rest of the spring semester, so it was a wonderful note to go out on. If you do any kind of group music (singing, orchestra, band, front porch, all that), there's just such an exhilaration in everything coming together and hitting everything just right.

And then I turned my phone back on and found the voicemails from my mother's assisted living, and life went back to hell again. Things you don't want to hear on a voicemail: "her pupils are pinpoint and non-reactive" and by the time I broke every law getting to the ER, she was back to her (not-so-great) normal. sigh And so it goes.

(note: this vid is NOT us - we are not a group of 18-23 year old talented singers at Cambridge University. lol

We're praying for her and you, I'm sure it's rough.

Sorry Exie. Praying for strength for you.

Just brought my mother home from the hospital!! On comfort care now: no ambulance, no emergency room (other than something like a deep cut needing stitches), no hospital admissions. Being in the hospital made her dementia so much worse. We’ll see how much she gets back to her version of normal, if she does.

She will improve, surroundings make so much difference.

Thanks, everyone! Just on the fifteen-minute drive home, she was so much more back in tune. “Look at the forsythias!” (Hubs can’t remember “forsythia”, lol) “Look, that’s where the horses are!” (The entrance to Biltmore Estate, which has a herd of horses that are frequently out grazing)

God is great, and merciful.

Already planning on drinking sissy IPA's all week and then buying a case of Tiny Bomb to bring home. Taking a case of Pennyrile Ale down with me.

Any recommendations on local IPA's that I should bring back with me to Hoptown?

Who is Megan Moroney? Ain't never heard of her.

Honestly me either before yesterday. A buddy of mine sent me the link to her video and said "you'll like this".......I'm gonna have to do a little research although I did see something about that song Tennessee Orange is nominated for several CMT awards.
