Things I'm mad about today

Both our dogs came down with a severe case of kennel cough from being at the boarder last week. They were both vaccinated a month ago. The vet is sending one of them to a doggie ICU. I am not blaming the boarder, but we won't be using their services again. I called and told them about it so they could notify other dog owners and do some additional cleaning of the facility.
Dang, I’m so sorry, especially for the one that’s hospitalized. Hope s/he gets well soon!

They are getting her stabilized and will keep her for 3-5 days on aggressive antibiotics. They said she was probably the sickest dog they had seen that was still alive. Pneumonia, borderline septic, terribly low BP and a temp of 105. Gonna have to sell a kidney to pay for this. I called the boarder to let them know to contact other dog owners and to do serious cleaning and they seemed shocked about it. Not sure what we can do as far as getting them to pay any of it, probably nothing.

Pneumonia + hypotension + 105° = full-blown septic, not borderline. Well, if she were a human. But lucky you were able to get her under care!

Hate to see that particularly since you just had them vaccinated.
Wish them the very best.
I’m sure you’ve already done a lot of research about kennel cough but wanted to share this with you anyway

I considered it. But it seems like it would be incredibly difficult to prove any kind of negligence. Unless they knowingly allowed a sick dog to be there it seems almost impossible to prove. They are never going to admit it nor would another pet owner admit to it for fear  they would get sued. We just have to pray for a full recovery.
On a side note, they sent the "estimate" for services. Granted it is a worst case "she lives for 5 days in isolation then dies" scenario...6500-11,000 bucks.
