Things I'm mad about today

I’m obviously biased being Army, but there are way more options in the Army vs Marines. What was his GPA if you don’t mind me asking? Officers aren’t in anywhere close to as dire need as enlisted are. It’s still not a guarantee in any branch to pass the officer eval boards. Anything under a 3.5 GPA prolly isn’t going to make it. Likely need some other assets (second language, extracurricular college organizations, volunteer hours, etc) as well. I just left the recruiting trail and the last board eval I saw had the most “not selected” I had ever seen.
I believe he graduated with a 3.6 but I'd have to ask him again to be sure. He doesn't really have other assets outside of his volunteer work for his first 2 years of education doing the TNPromise scholarship at community college. He did "Young Marines" as a child, but that was over 10 years ago.

With a 3.6, I think he has a decent shot. It’s a process though, just be aware

Also, as of right now (read: subject to change), he’d be immediately eligible for tuition assistance to start working on his Masters after his initial training is complete in the Army. I don’t think any other service offers it immediately after, maybe the Navy. Something to consider.

If you have any questions about the process, feel free to hit me up. I hated recruiting, but I’d always do right by the recruit, not the numbers. Especially for a Vols fan.

I wasn’t sure if I missed stuff where volly got involved. The name calling to Vette was rather cereal imho.
So many others have done so much worse.

But I don't know and Don't really care either way. I've better things to talk about.

I'm making yeast rolls today. Real old fashion yeast rolls that mom and grandma would be proud of.

He'll only go in as an officer or he won't go in at all. He really wanted the AF, but two separate recruiters told him they didn't need him. As of now, he's leaning towards the Marines or just continuing to work and start on his Masters degree.
Kind of in same boat. My son finishes up trade school in a few months and wants to Enlist Marines

I’m unpacking and have better things as well. It’s peaceful around here

We had 2 bad moving experiences out of 12.
Only second non dity move me for me. Just own too much stuff now and I’m getting older. Not worth the hassle. The legos and a floor scratch seem to be worst things I’ve found so far. I wanted a new hose reel and they broke one of the wheels on my old one, so…

Overseas packers were the best. Stateside guys, not so much. CoVan moving were the worst.

Best of luck to you all! Our's loved the Marine recruiters layout and plan. He even has a pathway for him to get his law degree or phD (which is what he'll end up doing in the end). We put him through his first 4 years and he's walking away owing nothing. The rest is up to him though, lol. Mom and dad can't afford anymore after putting him and his older sister through college. Both are very fortunate to not be in debt, thanks to scholarships, us and grandparents.

I'm sure it's occurred to others over the years. lol
You and Slice were/are his favorites, to say that to one of you is major. I mean he gives me crap about my alcohol addiction and even makes remarks to Norcal about his consumption. He 🙏 when Slice mentions his alcohol issues. Lulz.

I find it all funny. Hope he's doing well and stubbing his pinky toe on the coffee table leg daily.

same here. I had a 529 saved up that covered all of trade school and paying for the last trimester out of pocket. He'll be done with zero debt so it's either start working full time (which has been the plan for 2 years now), or enlist and go from there.

BTW, you got a good yeast roll recipe?
Hah, no. I do have a new bag of bread flour and a packet of yeast that I need to use to support my husband's sudden bread addiction.

eta: ooo, Parker House rolls. I used to love me some Parker House rolls...
