It is a major part of my frustration. I am not a guy who can just rubber stamp atuff and send it down the line. I want stuff to be correct if it has my name on it. That does not seem to be a popular way of doing things here.So I’m curious (as usual.) Do you feel that the amount of cleanup you’re having to do on this new-ish job and the resulting frustration are part of your feeling of burnout?
Is your manager aware of the messes you’ve inherited and the amount of time needed to clean them up?
In my working days, I was always surprised/not surprised at how little my managers knew and understood about how badly things had been (and were being) done incorrectly or inefficiently. And what was necessary to get things on the proper track.

My manager was not aware until recently what a total disaster I inherited. His manager, however, was big buddies with my predecessor and allowed him to do things the way he did. I have been given enough time to fix it IF I can get cooperation from those who are supposed to be completing their assignments. The "I am new" excuse won't fly much longer, nor should it. My biggest problem is I don't know what I don't know, I don't know who I don't know, and I don't know why I have not been given this information from the start.
I am gonna be that guy nobody likes but are glad later that I was here.
I hope your manager’s manager has the sense to shut up and stay out of your way. Buddying up with reports (your predecessor) is a crap work move, especially when folks start discovering what you allowed to happen by cutting your bud slack. It is a major part of my frustration. Man, that is terrible. I am at a loss for words. That has to be heartebreaking.still triggert about all the confusion yesterday over my wife's tooth extraction, which didn't get done...because of an "insurance issue" that dam near made me lose my chit...especially after the person at the nursing home (in charge of insurance) said they were not supposed to take her to that place and is now investigating the issue...so she was taken up there, where I had to meet them, only to turn back around and go back to the nursing home....and then they're saying the tooth is so bad they might have to take her to the ER...so late yesterday afternoon I had to stay with her for a while to try to calm her down, but she went absolutely bonkers when I left (ran out the front door) and had to be restrained all night

Damn, I’m so sorry! Sure would be interesting to know who told EMS (transport) to take her to dentist B instead of dentist A. This doesn’t seem like an angry story.HBPW and I just walked to the mailbox, well, almost. Got to the middle of the street and HBPW seen two silhouettes about 50 yards away that were also in the middle of the street. We could tell they were K9 of some sort.
So we ran up the driveway and into the garage as fast as we could. HBPW looked out the kitchen window and seen that they were coyotes.
I laffed all the way up the driveway while pinching at HBPWs butt and telling her "They're right behind us!"
