One thing in my lifetime and I hope it never happens again, hearing in American History class that the President has been shot in Dallas.

6th period PE study hall. Staring out the window. The principal came oner the intercom.

Teachers and students. President John Kennedy has been shot in Dallas Texas. He has died of his wounds. School is dismissed. Those riding busses remain.

We walked home.

Opryland in Nashville. I used to go with my sister and cousins all the time in the 80's in the summertime and loved it. God only knows how many times I rode the Wabash Cannonball. There were much better amusement parks for sure but that one was near home and beat the hell out of Silver Dollar City (Dollywood).

Luckily my kids got to see Peyton in the NFL, but you're so right about Ward.

I remember when

there were only 3 TV stations,we were lucky to have a ABC UHF station

and we would reach thru the window to tune the antenna thru the window and screen

couldn't afford a remote controlled one

our first phone was a party line, which sucked ,the other party tied it up talking all day and yes.the phone was black and a dial up

my parents couldn't afford a window AC,till after we were out of the house

oh there were earth quakes in Kingsport Tn,back when I was young

you couldn't buy gas or anything on a holiday, till a 7 11 came to town

the park in font of the school DB, was a major drug dealing spot for years :)

oh and Broad Street was a place to cruise in Kingsport, back then, you would see all the hot cars and hot babes :)crusing and not saying a whole lot :) fights and drugs got that broke up

and if you had a hot car,you could usually find a drag race at a red light or on Lincoln street

but if you were a parent looking for your kids, that was the place to go,just ask my sisters, they got dragged off there more than once lol but you knew where your kids were then

oh when cable came,I think it was 28 channels or so,it was big time

almost got shot in the back of a bar, when i was 15,my 16 year old friends mom said go find your daddy to him :) so we went,we drove behind a bar looking for his car, this guy stepped out with a rifle and shoved it in my face, hollering he was going to kill us,he was beat up and bleeding big time on his face,he blinked his eyes and put on his glasses, thank god and told us he had been in a fight and apologized, needless to say,I was sacred ****less :) it was my face

wasn't the only time I seen a gun that close,I do have to say it looked like a cannon

and i hate to say it,but I haven't been in a library since Dewey was there :)

and the swimming pool next to the high school, seen a few fist fights, knife fights and some beer bottles broken over heads, good place to send the kids I guess lol

oh and the two movie theaters in town, the State and the Strand, watched Elvis movies for 6, I think Pepsi caps at one and Bunny bread wrappers at the other on certain Saturdays

we took frozen cans of soda wrapped in aluminum foil,so we didn't have to buy drinks, while we were there, movie theater screens are small as hell compared to those and yes, they have been out of business for a long time
How old are you? Im also from Kingsport.
