calling a girl and having to talk to the dad.
never going back to mom with a cut or anything, rub some dirt on it.
playing in the big back yard shared with neighbors, not worried about property lines.
being able to have a fire and not have the fire department called.
dad waking up extra early to put us to work on the weekends.
guns in the gun rack of a truck.
being allowed to play outside at lunch/recess.
dodgeball being the best PE game.

Great thread,,love it!!! Brings back memories.
How about the big boom boxes that took like 8 size D batteries.(My brothers idea for this)
I would like to add dropping quarters in a video game and playing them hanging out in gamerooms,yes,I'm was a teen from the 80's.

This is a good one... maybe it built character? It was never any fun that's for sure.

Kids these days also don't have to worry about getting paddled in school when they get in trouble. I got my fair share of that after some fights.

We used to get paddled all the time for talking in class. The shop teacher got me one time and I was trying to climb the lockers it hurt so bad.
