Opryland in Nashville. I used to go with my sister and cousins all the time in the 80's in the summertime and loved it. God only knows how many times I rode the Wabash Cannonball. There were much better amusement parks for sure but that one was near home and beat the hell out of Silver Dollar City (Dollywood).

My first job was at Opryland. I worked behind the scenes giving out clean uniforms to the park employees and etc..... got to see all the girls that worked there twice a day..... best job there

Disc jockeys. DJ's taking and playing requests. Today, it's "on-air talent" and they don't pick the songs... play lists are dictated by the corporate office after periodic, $30,000 research studies.

Cars with 4 barrel carburators. 3 on the tree, 4 on the floor. Vinyl roof options. T-tops. 454 and 455 big blocks. Locking your keys in the car and busting in with a wire coat hanger. Going to the drive-in theater with a couple of people hiding in the trunk.

Anyone have (or knew a friend) that had a real satellite dish? I remember watching football games with the live feed and no commercials. Where the commercial breaks were you could actually see what the video truck was queuing up and hear the announcers off the air. Very cool.

... And the dish was the size of a tractor tire.

The channel box when cable tv first came out.

Turning on MTV when there was nothing else on and watching music videos for hours.

How about using two playing cards taped together, slip inside the top of the box and jimmy it around to unscramble the pay channels.

I had one. Dish had to rotate to see different channels. It took 30 seconds sometimes to flip channels.

Speaking of playing cards, taking one along with a clothes pin and attaching it to your front fork of your bicycle. When the cards passed over the spokes it sounded like a motor.
