This coaching staff

At the end of the day it’s all about how this team and coaching staff respond to this setback. After this game we’re really left with more questions than answers. They have to buckle their chinstraps and go find out who they are. One game doesn’t define a season unless they let it…

I think Heupel’s loyalty to his friends will be his greatest weakness. Definitely some under performing groups.

If your supposed identity is offense, running or passing, why is one of the most questionable position groups the OL? Also, if it's so dubious why does the play calling not reflect that? Why not 'help' the QB due to it?
That's my question.. If you can't run what you bring, then at least tailor it back to help your defense out. They were on the field all night.. Yes the Oline seems to be a weak link, but so does QB and WR too. Why not go to 12 personal again or throw quick stuff. This staff was subpar last night, except Tim Banks. He got hung out to dry by this putrid offense..

Last 2 quarters of Oklahoma + first 2 quarters or Arkansas= 6 points scored.
There are a lot of issues on offense. Aside from our RBs, we don't appear to have a single unit on offense that looks above average.

Ellarbee is definitely an issue. Wait til next year when he has to play guys that he recruited and developed. He’s a Heupel buddy though so he’s not going anywhere.

I don't think our coaching staff is pathetic. I especially don't think Banks is pathetic. I think Banks has done a great job this year, and in other years was asked to run a defense that had to be on the field for 40-45 minutes per game. Considering what he had to work with, I just can't lay a lot of blame on the guy.

I don't know, I get that people are frustrated and angry, but this staff has done a lot of good in the last three years and I don't see this loss as defining them any differently. The season might define them, definitely, but this loss alone doesn't change my opinion on any of them.

We are damn lucky to have this staff. What they have done in 4 years is nothing short of amazing. This program was a damn dumpster fire and on probation just a couple years ago for Petes sake. Lots of short memories around here.

Bama got beat by Vandy. Badly.

The SEC is murderers row. We can lose 2 games and still make the playoffs with a shot to win it all every year.

Well....We did get out coached by Pittman and his crew. This time last year Pittman's head was on the chopping block. Not a good look for us.
Look no further than Petrino’s hands all over our defeat on both sides of the ball. He may be a shady human being but he can scheme on both sides of the football. His coaching was all over his receivers galloping around wide open all night. No doubt he also dropped a few hints how to throw a wrench in our offensive groove as well.

Offense is an issue but, to say Banks was hung out to dry by the offense isn't very accurate. Arky took the ball to start the game and comsumed over 9 minutes, that had zero to do with the offense.

After seeing the same mistakes in back to back games with a bye week sandwiched in between, I don’t have a lot of faith things will be corrected. We kinda are what we are at this point.

The clock management on the last drive was abysmal.

The defense played good enough to win. The offense only scoring 14 points is pathetic.
Clock management is the one gripe I’ve had with Heupel since he got here. I don’t understand the complete lack of urgency and timeout mismanagement seemingly every time we’re in that position.

You got to sustain a drive a some point. They were on the field the whole first half because we couldn't do anything offensively. So yes he got hung out to dry..

Probably wouldn’t put Banks in that list. We were very thin at defense the last few years, and this year we’re truly seeing what he is capable of with a full roster. If it weren’t for the defense we would’ve lost by several scores last night, and not only that, they were on the field for 3/4 of the game. Given the facts, you can’t be too upset with them on the last drive of the game. We shouldn’t have even been in that position.

Honest question is there a single good assistant coach on this team besides Elklear/Gardner/abeln?
Hazle trash
Banks trash besides maybe this year
Sims can’t land a recruit to save his life
pope Wr seems to not get any separation
Elerbee only one elite Prospect in 4 years.. line not great with most of his players
Inge-TBD
Willie… need I say more

I’m slightly inebriated, but my God most of our coaching staff is pathetic
Know fans won't like hearing this after a loss, but a team is a reflection of the coaching staff. Saban was focused and driven. He was never content. Never satisfied. Just a machine. Another part of Saban's success at Bama was that he surrounded himself with the best coaching talent. Case in point....I'm not sure he particularly cared for Kiffin, but that wasn't the the focus. He hired guys who would get the job done like 'em or not. No dead weight on his staff and if he made a mistake with a hire, he didn't let it linger/fester. He made the correction. One thing about a loss like this is that it forces folks to slow their roll a bit and take off the orange shades and see things more in the light of reality. Let's be real. This is not a playoff team. It's an 8 win bunch. The OL is a serious issue. We don't have difference makers at WR and the secondary has some holes. Throw in some injuries and it's possible that we could slip to 7 wins. Teams are going to keep using the NC St/OU plan on defense until we show we can handle it. Can we? Right now I've seen little evidence that we can.

16 unanswered points against the D after mid-third quarter. When the D needed to make a stand, it did not. On the flip side, the O scored no points after mid-third quarter and stalled consistently when it needed to move the ball. Aside from poor play calling, execution and clock management, where was the intensity from coaches and sense of urgency? At least now we can’t blame the orange helmets!

two games like this and in both games they chose not to run the play clock down once the offense went into “lose slowly” mode. They won one and lost one.

Both games I thought it was strange. If you are playing with a lead and repeated 3-and-outs a reasonable person would wait.

True, and nobody should be buying any championship tickets with a freshman quarterback either. That should just be a general rule.

I am no analyst of The roster but I was thinking the line next year may be worse.

Heupel's loyalty will be his downfall. Initial loyalty is great. It's not so great when it brings down your product.

After sleeping on the game last night, I thought Yesterday's performance reminded me of our game against Wyoming back in 2008.. Two of the most disappointing games I remember.
