And with the amount of $$$$$ involved with the NIL collectives, and the availability of top talent, Coaching is going to be scrutinized more than ever, and at a premium. It is now nothing more than a business, and as such demands performance. Only the best will be at the top. The "we are young and just need a couple more recruiting classes" just won't get it anymore. Look at Indiana. First year Head Coach, brought many players with him through the Portal. Has a shot at the Playoffs--First year. Just received an EIGHT year extension and hefty raise. That's Coaching. These Head Coaches better hire the best assistants and get it done; or else. The Millions of dollars demand it. So do the Fans. They want results for their contributions.

NFL type parity creeping in, sneakily yet quickly.

NIL deals aren't the same as NFL contracts as to payments and the timing of payments

Cignetti would have been a top name in any major college coaching search list this off season so that big extension basically takes him off the table.

If anything we are seeing the opposite of what you’re saying right now. With less coaches being fired. Not more.

Post sober in the future

It’s amazing that CJH has produced our 2 best seasons of roughly the last two decades and there’s people just waiting for a loss so they can show off their extra chromosome

I don't agree with giving a coach a huge raise & extension after a good year. It backfires more often than not.
Cignetti won big at JMAD, took a good many JMAD players with him, and now has Indiana at a level they never dreamed of. He will be National Coach of the year. Indiana didn't want to lose him to the likes of Okla, Usc, Lsu, Fsu, ect. To accomplish what He has is nothing short of amazing. The Hoosiers play well EVERY week, even with the backup QB. (Tayven Jackson) "I win football games". Yes he does.

We shall see. Osu has far superior talent, game is at Columbus, so on paper they should win big. (they play the game on grass) Even if they do, it won't diminish what Cignetti has done in his first season. Whenever I hear all the excuses for a bad performance, I look no further than Indiana. Excellence can be achieved with the right people.

I think “time and place” have been very good to Indiana this year. I think if you gave them a mid-tier SEC schedule they would easily have lost 3-4 games so far. I would imagine that 5 years down the road Indiana will be questioning that contract.

Ok then. All Indy has done is beat every team on their schedule, (all anyone can do) and exceed expectations EVERY week (cover pointspreads) Indiana would handle Vandy IMO, Cignetti knows how to beat Ga St. Last year JMAD 42, GaST 14. and Ga St had a winning record.(7-6) This year they are 2-8, with wins over Chatt & VANDY. Hello.

Their triple digit sos schedule. There's a reason he can do it with jmu players
