This is pretty telling,

Until somebody starts recording the "drops" stat, this argument is pointless. Who would you rather have to throw the ball to with the game on the line, knowing a dropped pass ends it, Marvin or T.O.? Honestly. Marvin simply had better hands. His YPC is lower as are his total yards. Mostly (IMO) because Marvin was a small guy who couldn't break tackles like Owens. I am sure somewhere there are recorded stats for passes thrown to vs passes caught. And I am sure that is a subjective stat as not everyone will agree that a given ball should have been caught. When I played in middle school the coach said if you get a hand on it, you can catch it. Two hands, you should have.

So Owens has some of the best hands in football I mean his stats back it up too.

Not speaking of yardage alone, there wasnt a pass thrown anywhere close to Marvin that he didnt reel in. Now TO on the other hand is known for dropping passes that are right between the numbers.

How? Why would a quarterback keep throwing to a guy if he drops every pass? Why would GM's still want a guy who is such a cancer to a team and drops passes?

That line is not as long as you think, and it is getting shorter and shorter by the year.

Because IF he catches the ball he's a threat to score because of his physical ability. He's huge, he's very strong and he's fast. He gets paid because of what he COULD do. Everyone agrees the guy has tremendous athletic ability. What he lacks is the ability to put the team ahead of his own ego.

What NFL player doesn't have an ego? T.O. just wears his heart on his sleeve. His attitude is no different than any other WR in the NFL.

You are acting as though TO has had very bad quarterbacks in his career??? Other than this past year, I disagree with you.

Who said that? I'm not saying TO's the greatest WR in the NFL, but the guy was a serious weapon. His hands weren't the greatest but he obviously caught the ball enough to be considered one of the best.

Now, he does express his feelings and does like himself, but I'd like to be shown one great player in the NFL who wasn't full of himself.

Jeff Garcia career completion % 61.6. INT % 2.3. I wouldn't call those bad numbers. Guy was fairly accurate with the football.
Donovan McNabb 59% 2.1%
Romo 63.4% 3%

None of these guys are exactly Steve Young, but those are pretty darn good numbers. Catch the ball T.O. Catch the ball. God gave you 2 hands and 1 mouth for a reason.

Are those guys better than Peyton Manning?

I thought you had some good arguements up until this little quote. Please ask the Dallas, Philly, and SF organizations and players what they think about that. There has not been a WR in the league who has caused such a problem with this many teams. He continually throws his coaches and his QBs under the bus and if he doesnt get the ball thrown to him a majority of the time, it is like watching a ticking time bomb.

I said his ATTITUDE. Every great WR in the NFL has that attitude that they should get thrown the ball everytime. TO is only one of the few that speaks out about it.

Ever hear of Larry Fitzgerald? I don't see him doing that? Yes, most think they are the best ever. They have to. But most understand that they aren't the only one out there. T.O. thinks he should be the primary target on every play. And that is simply not good football.

He's a damn drama queen. Yea, most of the top shelf WR's have ego problems. They are clowns as well. But T.O. Takes the Grand Prize.

Theres another wideout named Johnson in Houston. I hear he's pretty good. But thats all I hear about him. Nothing else.

That's just not his style.

Well, yeah isn't that slightly the point? Andre Johnson's style allows him to go out and play the game to a great extent, and most coaches would tell you he's currently one of the best in the sport. Same with Larry Fitzgerald.

They don't need to go around and act like a clown to get the recognition they deserve. Now I'm not gonna come out and call TO trash, but the fact that he's damaged and harmed his relationship with many teams and coaches because of his antics, well thats unprofessional.

I don't hate the guy, and yeah plenty of other players have done way worse things. He's still a cancer to almost every team he's been on. Don't change the fact that I wouldn't want him on my team and I'd never want to see him in the HoF, no matter the numbers he's put up.

Just like it was said in an earlier post he's just the only one that speaks his mind. I don't think he needs or needed to do those things to get recognition he just wanted to do it just because. And the HOF is about what you do on the field and on the field Owens is one of the greats.
