This is why Alabama is ranked ahead of us!

Alabama played us evenly, on our home turf! Our Football Team did not beat Alabama's Football Team! Our Neyland Stadium Crowd beat Alabama!
Alabama would beat Tennessee, on a neutral site, about 8 out of 10 times -- maybe 9 out of 10 times! Remember the off-sides penalties that the Neyland Stadium Crowd created for Alabama? If you take all of that away, we might lose by a couple of touchdowns!

Our Vols played like a high school team against South Carolina. How many high school games did Alabama play -- NONE! Alabama paid respectful in all of their games -- and, Alabama's offense blew up Tennessee's Defense, on our home turf! I think Alabama lost their 2nd game, away from home as well - by only 1 or 2 points, and, their game was competitive to the very end.

Tennessee's Defense has been embarrassing for most of the season -- I don't care how good our Offense has been ! You should have to play on both sides of the ball to be in the College Football Playoff. Let's face it -- this year, we were not ready to be in the College Football Playoffs -- but, if we get our Defense figured out -- we might get there in about 2 years! I don't see our Defense making a transformational 1 year miracle for next year -- but, we can always hope. Josh Heupel has proven he can coach Offense, but, he has not yet proven he can dominate on the Defensive side of the ball in the SEC. To be a complete Coach, Josh Heupel will have to dramatically improve on Defense. If we don't dramatically improve on Defense, we will regress in 2023, with a worse record than this year!

Also, remember -- our Vols were not competitive against Georgia either! The final score of the Georgia game was not an indication of how badly we were beaten! So, two very bad losses, neither of which we were competitive in, was the straw that broke the CFP Committee's Back, in not being able to support us!

I am not trying to create an argument -- but, just providing a realistic assessment for everyone with "orange colored" glasses! Go Vols!

I'm not sure I've ever read a larger crock of crap that you've produced here OP. And that's saying something as I ived to read two different sessions of Gruden to UT threads.

What about our 2nd embarrasing loss to Georgia ? The final score of the Georgia game was not indicative of how badly we got whipped ! The Georgia game was not a competitive game, to be honest !

What about our Win over Vandy? That final score was not indicative of how BADLY we actually WHIPPED that Tail! Vols could have won that one 112-0 !!! What's your point?? 🙄

Alabama could easily be sitting 8-4!

The rules were changed after the fact.
The committee didn’t have a “you can’t get your ass kicked” rule.
But they just decided that our loss in Columbia was so horrifying that a new rule must be made.
that rule pushed us behind Bama in their rankings.
The "you can't get your ass kicked" rule has hurt Ohio State a couple of times in recent years. One year they got boatraced by a mediocre Iowa squad and once by Purdue. Both of those losses were comparable to the USCe loss.

Tennessee beat Alabama and beat LSU which beat Alabama. I can't see how that in anyway translates to Alabama being ranked ahead of Tennessee. I just assumed the Alabama button is bigger on the keyboard or it blinks brighter. Just like kids they pick the bigger and brighter toy.

I'd say they put Bama ahead of us because: 1. Bama gets a long shot chance of getting into the payoffs, or 2. If not, they get the Sugar Bowl, which they want.

I stopped reading when you said our football team didn't beat Alabama. That's factually false.
Ever since we beat Alabama, and we're undefeated, all was great...we beat Alabama! Then we lose to Georgia and South Carolina and all of sudden, the Alabama win wasn't really a win.

It's been said several times and it's really simple. Our losses were bad. We weren't competitive whereas bama was. They have Young and we don't have Hooker. It's just that simple.

... And that should override the head to head outcome between teams with the same record? It's conjecture on your part. Conjecture isn't simple at all. It's a subject where reasonable people can see things differently.

In a title hunt, Tennessee got 63 hung on them by an average at best South Carolina team. They have no room to complain about any rankings. Zero. Tennessee beat Alabama and that's all that matters, but as it stands right now, Alabama is better. If Hooker was still available, that changes things. But he's not. Stop getting your orange panties in a bunch over something meaningless...

I suppose it depends on what rankings are based on? Previous performance, or future expectation? Reasonable arguments can be made for both ... but four established facts won't change ...

1) Tennessee 52 Alabama 49
2) Tennessee and Alabama finished 10-2 overall
3) Tennessee and Alabama finished 6-2 in the SEC
4) Alabama lost at LSU ... Tennessee won by 27 points at LSU

Wrong
The score beat Alabama!
Last time I checked the end score is what dictates a win. TCU had a dang close game to Baylor but still moved up. Total crap excuse. The system favoring Nick Saban put them ahead. Prove me wrong

I agree with all that and think Tennessee deserves to be ahead of Bama. It's just not that big of a deal, 6 or 7. Hell, 7 has us in a better bowl and location. So, it works out.

No way that should be a basis, they don't even know if Young is going to play, he may sit out of the Bowl game

I knew we should've have moved the goal post to the River when we beat Bama, the Committee said if TN can move their goal post we can move ours for ranking selection. Let's do it guys Roll Tiii uhhhhh, let's just rank Bama ahead of TN and see what happens

*slight joke for some that may be slow on the up take....I know we got some BamVols here
