At this time (after 3 horrible blowouts in the row) that argument does not hold water any longer. I would prefer to be in every game until the end and lose close (like we did last year with exception of Bama and Vandy), then to get blown out every time but win one close game - and to make things especially painful 2 of those blowouts were against teams we thought we had realistic chance of beating before the season - Mizzou and Auburn). Dooley got criticized heavily for losing to Mizzou in multiple overtimes and this years team gets blown out after scoring only 3 points against them? How is that an improvement?

That's a ridiculously ignorant statement. What happened to a loss being a loss and a win being a win? Do you understand that if we would have lost to SC 21-20, and kept these other games close, we would be 3-7, already ineligible for a bowl game, and staring at our first season with 8 losses? I'm ecstatic we won a game vs a Top 11 team with this current roster. We have a great chance to beat Vanderbilt and Kentucky and proceed to go bowling and finish 7-6 and with a Top 5 class. I'd rather one win and 5 blowouts to Top 15 teams than 6 losses by 10 points or less. Enough of this moral victory BS.

No its not. Does Washington State, Arky State, FAU, Miss State, Arkansas have more talent or speed on D than we do? They all played Auburn much better than we did.

Some of you guys live in a land of delusion if you are lying to yourself and laying the blame from yesterday on talent and team speed. While it plays a part, this was largely on the coaches and a lack of giving a damn by the players.

If you couldnt see the disparity in speed on the field then you are blind. It is pretty telling when the only player on our kick coverage that can run a player down from behind is Michael palardy. I know a lot of people think that our team quit on defense, but understand that Auburn has superior athletes right now.
They said on the post game show that tennessee currently has 23 4 star players on the roster, and that butch jones has commits from 20 4 stars for next season. It may surprise you how much better the coaching gets as the talent level rises.

Because in one case you can see that the team is improving and in the other case it's moving sideways or getting worse (indicating rebuilding is not going well). When Dooley was hired nobody wanted to coach at UT. We got what we could get and when Dooley was fired nobody wanted this job and we got Butch. Butch has done a masterful job recruiting and now everyone is down on him and the team. The players have played under a multitude of different coaches and I for one think they are the ones who have been s..t on. Give CBJ a chance a and he will prove y'all wrong.

Defensively? In the running with Arkansas and ky. Mcculers will be drafted this year. Nobody else. AJ next year. Maybe nobody the year after as our young guys will be coming up. That's 2-3 defensive draft picks in 3 years, including Maggit. That is terrible man. We should have a player drafted on each level of the defense every year without question. We will never consistently compete with the sec elite who have multiple nfl picks each year, until we get the players. We can go thru defensive coach after coach trying to coach no nfl picks vs an nfl developmental team with nfl talent and speed everywhere and the results will be the same until we close the talent gap.

Well considering Coach Jones hasn't had a chance to rebuild (or bring his own players in to fit his system) I don't think you can say that it is going sideways or getting worse. We beat a Top 15 team while playing the hardest schedule in college football. That shows improvement considering we haven't done it in a couple years. We may or may not have enough talent in terms of players, but we certainly do NOT have coaching talent to compete in the SEC. CBJ needs to get rid of our DC asap (and for CBJ's own good he should no longer associate himself with special teams either).

We do NOT have enough talent. Chizik was able to recruit top 5 classes every year he was there. Dooley's first was ranked 9th, then regressed to 13th and finally 17th. Butch ended up signing Dooley's crap and somehow still managed a top 25 class, but Auburn (with Malzahn) finished 8th. We signed zero 5 stars, five 4 stars, and 15 three stars. Malzahn signed 2 five stars, 9 four stars, and 12 three stars. However, I am beginning to believe that Jancek is not very good. I don't understand why we never put a spy on Marshall after he ran for 3 touchdowns............:whistling:

I'd add to that and say Dooley did not leave CBJ with nothing on offense. In fact, CBJ should be doing a lot better with the talent hes got now. I realize he didn't have a ton of experienced talent because most of that went to the NFL.... nevertheless to act like we don't have a talented players on Offense is ridiculous. He wasn't left loaded by any means but not depleted either.

When Florida's D was healthy--like when they played us they shut us down completely on O.

We have struggled on offense against almost every single team with the exception of the first game and that really has me worried because that's where there should at least be some talent.

At least our defense being so bad is kind of excused for this year... offensive should not be this ineffective...

Then last season they were ALL Juniors but DaRick the moron was gone but along comes CP from the JUCO ranks and he's a 1 year superstar because he had Bray, Hunter, our other Rogers came on finally as a Senior and most of our O line were all Juniors and our TE's got even better too and suddenly our O was a BEAST and could put points up against almost any team in the country but that was AFTER a solid 3 YEARS together as a O getting real game knowledge and EXPERIENCE!

Now you expect a Freshman QB and Freshmen WR's and a couple of Sophs to function like Bray and his group did after 32 YEARS of working together???

I just can't believe you people. We are a bad football team right now. Coaches can coach all they want, but if we can't tackle, get faster, that's the players, not the coaches. This is this staff's first year. Ya'll were praising this staff after south carolina, and now that this young, not a lot of depth team facing the toughest schedule in college football (I don't care what anyone says about that) is getting beat down by better teams you want the coaches heads. We'll be fine. Calm down. What did you expect? WE ARE BAD. Butch and this staff can only do so much. And honestly, let's be realistic. Georgia was pretty banged up, we had that game, and we let it slip. Let's realize that Georgia was injured and we still couldn't beat them. Talent difference. I'm not taking anything away from beating Carolina, but I personally think they're a little overrated and we got the breaks finally to win that game. This team just doesn't have the speed right now to beat the bama's, the auburns etc. We just aren't there yet. We'll get there.
