This shows you how delusional Vandy is!

Per Vandy: "In the main three sports (baseball, men's basketball, and football), Tennessee only has one national championship after 1965. #Ourstate"

I do believe Tennessee won a National Championship in football in 1998. Gosh those Nerds in Nashville are stupid. Guess that's why they are the only ones who consider their school top 20.

Coach Pat and 7 or 8, plus what 3 or 4 in a row, when there bowling team does that check back with me.:eek:lol: Won so damn many forget how many.:)

I see a bunch of outrage, as Vandy comments tend to elicit on here.

But, I'm not seeing what's incorrect about the quote in the OP. The OP's own outraged response simply confirms the statement he was dismissing.

I'm not sure why it concerns you, but no one cares to hear your lectures.

Give me a break guys! Congratulations to Vandy for winning the College World Series. It's a heck of an accomplishment (we'd be ecstatic if we'd have won it). Give credit where it's due. It's the first time they've won something of this magnitude and they have every right to bask in the glory of it. :hi:

This statement came from Clay Travis the other day on the radio. He is the one that pointed it out to the Vandy fans. Of course they ran with it, and he got hammered by Vols fans for it.

If it is 2014 before your school has won its first title in any mens sports (I think the only other title they have is a womens bowling title from a few years ago.) then you shouldn't be commenting on schools who have won titles for nearly 100 years before you won your first. With that said it is sickening that Candy has became an actual rival the past few years.

In their 3rd world gym-garage hangs a "national championship" banner for the NIT bb tournament. That puts their sports I.Q. in perspective.

You know that I don't count Bama's terrible claim to 1941. So I'm not being hypocritical here. Tennessee did not win the national championship in 1967; USC did.

You must have forgotten '25 and '26 that were awarded to bama by polls created years later. Not to mention '30 when 1 out of 6 or 7 polls had Bama @ #1.

That's cute

Baseball is not a main sport by any means either.

Technically it is or has morphed into one. Aside from football and basketball, it's the only other major sports most schools have that gets significant tv coverage both during the regular season and the post season, not just for the final championship round at the end unlike so many other sports.

That and it's also the only other sport where several thousand people will possibly show up for a game, and the only other major sport that can really bring in money without having to leach off of football or basketball revenue.

He knows his audience. He knows Vandy fans will lap it up and UT fans will come with their pitch-forks. Either way, he wins.

What a ridiculous argument! Have they won a national title other than the one they got this year in baseball? I don't think they have even sniffed one in Men's basketball or football. For a supposed smart school, their fans sure make some of the dumbest comments. And last I checked women's basketball generally has better attendance than baseball if that tells you how important baseball is in the overall pecking order of athletic programs.

They have a national championship in women's bowling. I don't count that though. So no this would be their first.
