This shows you how delusional Vandy is!

For years they have been trying to say that Tennis was a major sport. They had a doubles team that lost in a national championship a few years back. Funny that after this year, they don't talk about tennis anymore.

Also, if more comes of the recent NCAA suspension and it turns out they played several games with an ineligible player and have to forfeit games....I may never stop laughing. But going on, Tim Corbin is a great baseball man and teacher, it's the administration and the so called "fans" that they have are what makes Vandy....well Same Ol Vandy.

Per Vandy: "In the main three sports (baseball, men's basketball, and football), Tennessee only has one national championship after 1965. #Ourstate"

I do believe Tennessee won a National Championship in football in 1998. Gosh those Nerds in Nashville are stupid. Guess that's why they are the only ones who consider their school top 20.

Let them enjoy their CWS win - the only thing they've ever won before was a bowling championship so of course they're high on winning and talking smack. College Baseball is an extremely regional sport - softball is more popular across the country while those in the SEC West and a few other places tend to really dig baseball. Maybe UT baseball will finally gain a bigger following as Serrano has finally managed to get UT promote the team but we've got a ways to go and without a lot of fan support it can be that much harder for teams.

The Vandy obsession tho is getting old. And I'm not trying to be mean it's just that few of us outside of M. TN ever hear about it and don't care as much. Honestly many of us from E. TN & W. TN as well as many of who remember only a few short years ago can't fathom whatever the issue is between Middle TN Vols and Vandy fans. I get that it's there, I really do, but from the outside looking in it looks wayyyy overblown and not something we should be worried with outside of game day. You outnumber them in droves and they're so few in number it's not like they're everywhere as obnoxious as they might seem to you - ignore them no matter how much they might grate you. People didn't become this obsessed when UK beat us and TBH I consider them more of a traditional rival due to location, ginormous border, fan interaction/friendship/interaction and the fact that it's across two sports (hopefully the teams in both sports will become more competitive soon).

Nope. They have on their record two in a row against UT in football. Some things can just not be overlooked. I congratulate vandy (ugg) on their CWS win but in no way, shape or form will I back down or ignore them when they talk smack about football. The last two years they shot an arrow and drew a bullseye where it landed. Good for them. The gloves come off this fall and I hope we bloody that insolent fanbase (figuratively, of course).:hi:

Technically it is or has morphed into one. Aside from football and basketball, it's the only other major sports most schools have that gets significant tv coverage both during the regular season and the post season, not just for the final championship round at the end unlike so many other sports.

That and it's also the only other sport where several thousand people will possibly show up for a game, and the only other major sport that can really bring in money without having to leach off of football or basketball revenue.

College baseball doesn't get that much coverage until the regionals start. I think this last year I saw more regular season lacrosse on tv than regular season baseball

They just won the baseball title guess they are feeling really wonderful about themselves. That is why they added baseball as a major college sport when the facts are that women's college basketball is on the same level as baseball drawing as many or more fans overall. I think they would add women's bowling as a major if they ever win a title in that sport. Then they act like the world began in 1965 because we have five titles in football before that year.

I appreciate what you're saying and enjoy your posts Prof...but I live in West TN and travel quite a lot on business...and it doesn't take many smug Vandy fans to get your blood boiling. There was a guy in the town where I grew up who drove a Beamer with a bumper sticker that said "Vanderbilt - THE University of Tennessee." He was an absolute ahole and most of the Vandy fans I've met since then are just like him. His disdain for UT and his smugness is enough for me to dislike Vandyfan with a passion...the same passion that he has in his dislike for me.

Is this a joke? They actually did win a national championship in women's bowling. Let the Commode Doors enjoy their baseball national title, football season will be here soon and they will come crashing back down to earth.

Fair enough, I hear ya on that. It's just all the Vandy stuff is old to me. I laugh when people try and act like they're something so I guess I just don't get all the the stuff you guys have to put up with it. I don't live anywhere near them. I know our time is coming so they're not something on my radar except when others bring the up. They're a blip on the radar and will always be.
