As I was driving this morning I heard the talking heads at 104.5 the zone out of Nashville speaking of the potential of Petrino taking the helm.

I'm chief among sinners. Though forgiven there are consequences for my sins.

Mr. Petrino is facing his consequences as well.

Morality matters. You can't expect young people to walk with integrity and do the right things and yet forsake integrity yourself. Who will respect such a leader?

No to Petrino.

However, the more they talked about James Franklin the more I was being won over by the idea.

He has enthusiasm and fire. Everyone is calling him the Bruce Pearl of college football. We know that's not enough. But he's also proving his ability in recruiting and, now, in winning in the SEC. Sounds like a recipe for success to me.

Of course I want Gruden like the rest. But staring in the face of reality......James "Bruce Pearl" Franklin is starting to have a nice ring to it.

While he is a better coach than our current one, UT can do better. Franklin has proven he can get Vandy to a bowl game. While that is success in and of its own it takes a lot more to get what UT wants.

People don't like Franklin on this board because he coaches at Vandy and has a fiery personality.

Franklin is a really good football coach and I would choose him over Charlie Strong

Don't judge yourself so harshly.
Or any reasonable candidate.
Sometimes it takes a "sinner" to make a winner.

Let he, who is without sin, cast the first stone!

With that said, I say NO to Bobby.

But I would take James Franklin if 4-5 other guys first turn us down.

I don't want Petrino, but hiring a coach on perceived morals was how we ended up with Dooley in the first place. Mike Hamilton even said as much.

If Franklin is truly being considered by the powers that be, I just hope he is not a chain-liar like Bruce Pearl was/is.

I'm not saying I want Petrino but some people are hypocrites. They want to be forgiven for their own sins but they will hold someone else's sins against them for the rest of their life.

Petrino wouldnt be the best hire but we could do alot worse though. As far as James Franklin if he came looking for the job maybe. I dont think we can go after a Vandy coach though.

I'm all for Petrino and giving second chances. I'm a sinner. My God has given me many chances. I hope Petrino has learned from his mistakes and takes the UT job if we offer. He's proven. He's my leading candidate. Gruden is not coming. We will not pay him enough money to leave his current gig. He's making 4.3mil doing MNF. He will not leave for 5-6mil and have to come recruit all year. He likes the NFL better anyway. WERE NOT GETTING GRUDEN. James Franklin would be aight though. It's obvious he can do something with a group of players.

He reminds me of Bruce Pearl as well. It's funny, UT fans love(d) BP but opposing fans couldn't stand him. Sound familiar?...See Franklin.

I was impressed with Franklin during the 1st game this year against USCe that during a timeout, when the LL baseball team was introduced to the crowd, he ran out on the field and shook hands with the players. I don't know too many coaches that would do that, except Bruce Pearl.

and how would Franklin turning us down look to the masses?

It doesn't matter. If James Franklin is a target, and turns down UT at a press conference, then he was told that he didn't get the job in private. No one cares what the coach at Vanderbilt says. People seem to personify this program as a shy teenage boy who is afraid to ask a girl out because she might say no. That is not a winning strategy. That is how to go on a date with your ugly cousin Darlene Dooley.

I have a list A, and a list B.

List A has one name on it, I won't even bother mentioning because we all know.

List B would include James Franklin. I believe he may be the total package.

He can get Vandy to a bowl game, but Dooley can't get Tennessee to a bowl game in the same division. Speaks volumes

I don't want it to happen ,because I don't care for him. I think if he can get them to a bowl game with what little Vandy has to work with but he could take us to more than whatever bowl they are going to go to.

Seriously?? Franklin?? Y'all see the teams he beat this yr?? Ole miss, ky, presbyterian, UMass, auburn, and a mizzou with thier backup QB. Some of y'all just baffle me.

The fact that some of y'all just don't understand PR and how it can be used to benefit someone just makes me smh.

Is Franklin pro-barbecue or anti-barbecue? Serious risk associated with the Pearl comparison...
