Thompson Boling Arena at Food City Center

Regardless…everyone wanted to act like this was unheard of, that no program of Tennessee's stature would do something like this, and there’s now examples of 2 similar or better programs who actually have already done this. And both of which got lesser deals than what Danny White did for Tennessee. So the claims that this is below us, or below what a top program would do is false. The claims that we should have gotten more money or a better deal are also false, as Tennessee currently has the best deal in the country from what I’ve seen.

Meaningless, imo. Everything is for sale, so to speak. Just a matter of time until it's like the EPL, advertising on every American sports team jersey, along with every stadium and arena. Might as well accept it

Schools are grubbing for money, as major-college athletics has become this commercial creature that generates a lot of revenue
but has an ever-increasing need for it for money---for everything, especially because there's a constant facilities arms race in many of the sports. It's all gotten rather absurd--but that's entertainment!

As long as "Food City" isn't on the court, then this really doesn't bother me ... but I have a bad feeling that their logo will be splattered all over the floor.

I'm sure it will have a presence, but I don't think it will be obnoxious. Not replacing anything "Tennessee" related. You may see it on the sideline and a couple court logos. Something like this, maybe...

Maybe they can’t. I drove by both Neyland and TBA everyday for my job before I moved for 8 months and it literally made me shake my head every time I see TBA. It’s so ugly on the outside. Maybe @Thunder Good-Oil or one of the old timers can tell me what they were thinking.
It was modeled primarily around the Dean Smith Center at UNC and being bigger than Rupp Arena.

The architecture students when I was at UT called it the "hat box." Pretty fitting name.

This will give everyone something to complain about and take some of the pressure off the players being targets for complaints. Everybody likes to vent makes them feel better about their situation. It will now hopefully go towards a Sponsor name instead of students.

Just got my season tickets. All of them say Food City Center on them and no mention of Thompson Boling Area…

They still haven't addressed the big question....will the program have any coupons to cut out? Mr. Frugal wants to know.
