Thompson Deserves His Own Thread After This Game

Marshall Henderson is much straighter as well. His fundamentals for the shot have to be solid because of the number of ackward positions and fall always that he shoots. Kind of like a QB who must square his shoulders when on the run.

You're utterly clueless. Keep spewing out some garbage about RPI and embracing mediocrity. Any coach worth his weight in salt would take one look at Thompson and could make him into a much, much better shooter.

I think he will improve over time as he adjusts to the speed of the game etc. As to the coach comment, he lived in the same house with a pretty dang good college coach for 18 years.

Where does/did DT's dad coach?

Thank you, I enjoy your show and I'll hang up and listen.

I don't know but good coach as a dad doesnt automatically mean good shooter.

Its just bad spacing with his feet. hahaha Nah, I came across your post yesterday saying something about that.

His shot will be fine. He just has trouble pulling the trigger, but that is a confidence thing and will improve as he gets older. jmo

Even more important to have a solid base and technique to get back to when in a rut. Right now, he's all over the place, which is why he is hesitant. If you are missing one way, as a shooter, you are close. If you are right, left, long, short, you are screwed for a bit.

Not everyone is going to have perfect form. Jim Furyk learned his swing from his Dad, who was a club pro. As long as it is repeated and works, it doesn't matter.

I agree that being a coach's son doesn't mean that you are a good shooter, but it does mean that you have been told how to fix it and try to get more consistent.

But you know who else's jumper was all over the place as a freshman? That would Mr. Watson. I remember thinking dang this dude would be a nice player if he had a jump shot. Between repetition and seeing enough go through the hoop, by his junior year he became a dangerous shooter.

McRae went from 11% to 32% to 35% to 40%....all with the same form. As you and Gee have said, repetition with the same form can negate some bad habits, or form.

And full circle back to McRae's elbow. As long as he is hitting at a 40% clip, keep doing it....
