Thompson Lobbied For Abortion Group After All

Must be better than repeatedly claiming someone else was wrong but not having the ability to prove it. Amazing how easy it is to make claims that you are right and the other person is wrong and not have to prove it. How can you achieve something that difficult? I'm humbled just being in your presence.

All I asked was to back his claim up. Now I know he doesn't have that ability to do so I can move on.

How did you ever dream of the humility angle?

Sorry. It was not dead to begin with since an answer was still being waited on. After given multiple chances to answer, BPV failed so I said I'm moving on.

I'm not sure how I got pulled into this anyway. Really none of my business.:peace2:

good work. you're definitely being the bigger man here and I commend you for your maturity.

I think it's clear by now that this part of Thompson's past isn't really resonating with anybody other than the Phred Phelps wing of the extreme religious right.

I guess the concept of 'moving on' is beyond you....but since you obviously want this to continue. Let's look at the conversation. On the 22nd you made the last comment. I was not able to reply since I have been out of town. Once I was able to reply to your post somehow you claim you bowed out. I merely responded to your assertion. Call that whatever you want. I never pawed for an answer. I replied when I had the chance and didn't have to paw or whatever to get you to jump back into the discussion. It's clear that you want the last word and have no issues hearing yourself talk or reading your own words despite having nothing to back them up. I've called you out on proof numbers of times and you've failed to back your claims up. Despite you making really crappy claims and saying you're bowing out, you keep coming back here making even more comments. Even after someone says "move on" and the original topic comes back you find it somewhere deep inside you to bring BACK the dead topic. I fully expect some other snide comment so I will defer to you to have the last word and be the dog chasing his tail.

:snoring:

Tell me this: if I were the one trying to continue the debate, why on earth would you have needed to give me multiple chances to answer? Something incongruent there with your most recent soliloquy on dogs chasing tails and such.

Well let's see. Your repeated insistence I was wrong and you were right. I just repeatedly asked for proof. Something incongruent with your ability to comprehend a dialogue. All you have to do is jump back a few pages and follow along.

Now I find myself answering your inquiries on something you said was old. If it truly is dead like you claim, then let it die...it's honestly hilarious that you keep inquiring something while claiming it's not worth continuing.

My fear is Thompson would be another politician who is more concerned about representing the large contributors to the campaign fund instead of the everyday people who got him elected.

There's already been a story that both his sons work as lobbyists in Washington. I'm disappointed.

I've listened to one of his speeches on CSPan and one of his TV appearances, he didn't seem to offer many solutions to the problems facing the country.

Then you should be afraid of every politician of every ilk ever elected.

Some are worse then others. It's not possible to choose between the lesser of 2 evils?
you can certainly choose between the lesser of the evils, but that would put you in a voting block where you'd be altogether uncomfortable.

Here's a candidate, Dr. Ron Paul, who has accepted 0% from special interest groups:

As of July 6, Ron Paul had the third most cash on hand of the Republican candidates with $2.4 million, putting him ahead of John McCain.[58] 100% of Paul's funds comes from individuals,[59] with almost half (47%) raised from small contributions ($200 or less).[60]

Lobbyist are not evil people. They have a job to do that they are hired to do. Many small businesses for instance belong to the chamber of commerce. They individually cannot go to DC to lobby to protect themselves, so they group up and do it together. Are the small mom and pop shop owners evil?

Many groups hire lobbyists. Farmers, small business groups, hunters, fishermen, Religious groups, Doctors, Nurses, Military members (retired and reserves) Factory workers etc... The list goes on and on.

Show me the small mom and pop shop lobbyist and I'll show you the most neglected lobbyist in DC. Unless they pay out big bucks and special favors they don't even get a cute pen with the Congressional logo on it.

the Small Business Administration, which a lot of small mom and pop shops belong to, has a very strong lobbying arm.
