It's been a long time since we've seen a former UT quarterback start in the NFL, so based on that alone it was fun to see Josh Dobbs finally get a shot. However, now that he's been given that shot, it seems like he was a backup for a reason. He's capable of making big plays, especially with his feet, but he also misses too many wide-open throws, including key deep ones, and throws under the sticks on 3rd down entirely too much. Now that his time as a starter is coming to an end in Arizona, I think he's done enough to stay in the league as a backup, but not enough for a starter role unless his team's QB1 is injured. What do you all think?

He has a terrible surrounding cast. They would be terrible with Murray as QB1 as well. Hard to make accurate throws and put up 300+ yards when you have a crap offensive line that gives you no time and receivers get zero separation.
I’m not sure another team in a better situation will give him a shot. That’s the problem. We may never know what he could do with a strong supporting cast. Right now it seems like his role is damage control for garbage teams

I don't disagree. Sucks for him because I THINK he would be good if he had a good team around him. He probably won't get this opportunity again so we won't know what he is actually capable of. Arizona fans are delusional in thinking that he's the problem though. I wish he could go to the Falcons and team up with Patterson.

I dont think he has quite enough arm to make the throws into the tighter windows of the NFL consistently.

Still very athletic and smart so he makes a really good back up. May end up playing another 5 or 10 years which isn't a bad way to make a living. Made about 4.25 million already.

Name one decent franchise He's played for.

This is what I have noticed this year, he doesn’t have time to find anyone, what time he gets he has to create w/ his feet. Put him behind the KC line you see much different results…

I mean...you can say that about a lot of QBs.

Yep, if he had the rep of Brady or Manning, they got old and cherry picked teams with personnel to fit their dynamic in Tampa Bay & Denver. Imagine what they would have done in their final years playing for this Cardinals team. Dobbs is actually just fortunate to be making big bucks but would be fun to see him with a better cast.

Seventeen passes in two years isn't playing., and after they drafted Rudolph, it was over for Josh.
That kind of says it all for Josh doesn't it. After they drafted a better QB Josh never had a chance. But isnt that just it. He should always have a chance if he's actually good.

He will be a Journeyman in this league. And nothing is wrong with that. I envision him as a Coach one day in the league. That or engineering a Rocket to Mars.

I love Dobbs but I laugh at all this "he has never gotten a shot". Yeah, he has. 7 years in the NFL with 6 different teams, 2 of them twice. He's getting a chance to start becuase the Cardinals are tanking. He's done well enough but I seriously doubt any team out there is looking at home and thinking he'd make a great long term solution.

All this about playing for better teams, yeah, tons of QBs you could argue if they were given a better situation they'd do better.

Matthew Stafford was on a sh!t team for years and he was able to keep his starting job. Josh has had his chances IMO.
