Thoughts on Kentucky

You don't think Poole was predicting that? Said post game it was exactly what they drew up, the shot they wanted.

I don't know what Poole was predicting. I was just commenting on what Dykes pointed out on replay right after the shot. You're right - that's impressive if Poole studied game film or noticed something in this game that convinced him to set the last play up like that.

Yes miller wasn't a key piece last year or anything. Neither were liggins and harrelson I forgot lol

Yeah, because Miller and Harrelson were so dominant when Billy was here. Both those players barely played when Billy was here. Harrelson played one season of major minutes and Miller was a role player even as a senior. And explain how those players led the team. Sure, we've always had a couple upperclassmen play important roles, not denying that. But this whole Billy G thing makes no sense.

They've said that every single year. They're bound to be right eventually.

Yeah, Cal won his championship with Billy G players. Solid argument BTO.

A little butt hurt after a Robert Morris a$$ kicking?

Nobody has said that every single year, I told you preseason this team would struggle did I not? Go back and look at Cals past teams, theyve all had experienced guys or vets that helped out...I said if you didn't have miller last year you wouldn't have won it all and I stand by that. Jones while only a sophomore was a returning starter who had been to the NCAA, so he had experienced.

This year your biggest returner was a benchwarmer in wiltjer...c'mon man.

winning their conference tournament and going to the dance is bigger than beating kentucky in the nit.
having said that, i acknowledge that i was over the top about them storming the court.

i can understand it

I didn't know that you were a Robert Morris fan. My apologies..

Cal doesn't aim to get players that leave quick. It's just how the game is now. It's all about potential. When you recruit the best players, most will leave. Eventually it will catch up to you.

I doubt BTO has said that every year. I'm not saying next year will be a struggle, but this season was coming off of the mass exodus that followed the NC run, and like BTO said, all of the BCG players, who had been the veterans, were gone.

When Calipari went to UK, I was holding out hope from Day One that the downfall would be when all of BCG's guys were gone. I just honestly hoped there would be no NC before that happened (nothing personal to you, sir).

I'm guessing he was predicting one of the brain dead frosh (goodwin, poythress or stein) would lose their man at the rim...it worked.

True, but like Dykes said, the man defending the inbounds pass angled himself away from the basket, thus making the pass very easy, should one of the other guys lose someone at the rim.

I'm in no way saying they were that good under G, or that Cal didn't develop them because he did...I'm simply saying you need some experience that's all. He has always had it, dating back to his UMASS days...this is the first time it was really lacking and I predicted a very tough season while you thought they'd be fine...look who was right.

Yes he does. Look at the top 10-15 players, almost all have UK offers. Duke doesn't offer that many, Indiana doesn't, louisville doesn't...cal may not like the one and done but those are the kids he recruits.

Very true. I personally was confused by him wanting the ball there, but hell it worked. Don't know if it's something he saw on film, but it worked lol

No one's taking credit away from Calipari for helping those guys become better, or at least providing them with supremely-talented teammates to shine with. But, the veterans still came from the previous regime. Now, there are none.

People have predicted bad seasons every year. I think a lot of UK fans should have seen the system catching up with Cal eventually. I agree about players staying, without them we're not going to have success. But again, Cal probably doesn't like his players leaving, and it's a consequence of recruiting these players. A lot is riding on enticing players like Jones and Lamb back.

Did BTO call it a majority?
It's a fact that every Cal/UK team has had veteran leadership, except for this one. That was the point. This year, it was just the freshmen.

Think Miller was key, but not the deciding factor in the title run.

And I'll say it here and now, if you lose these frosh, wiltjer and mays, you'll struggle next year. Not as much because you'll have a bit more depth as it appears to be a bigger class, but if you're relying on 7 freshmen you're gonba struggle and I highly doubt you'll be hanging another banner...like I said previously don't think it's gonna be the cake walk many are expecting.

Now...if you get those guys to return and wiltjer plus this class, that's nasty.

Usually, when they miss the NCAAs, hosting UK isn't the result. I think RMU making the NCAAs and getting pounded is better than anything they do in the NIT...except beating UK at home.

Well I didnt predict them to struggle in the first 3 years, just this year...and judging by them been ranked highly every pre season it appears the coaches and media have no idea what you're referring to.
