Geez, you can't even take a compliment. But I appreciate your concerns over my personal safety. But my balance is quite good and I am very secure in my Solomon hiking boots. So, no slipping worries whatsoever.
It was more mental acuity. As you’ve had to retract lately. Be well in your journey of keeping up though.

That’s beautiful. Maybe regale the board with a daily verse from quotefancy.com and pass it off as life wisdom to follow. Maybe some Sun Tzu Art of War to keep with the basketball theme you’ve hijacked.

Well, it would make sense that the percentage of "pleased" would increase as it is a fait accompli. A done deal. She's here and that's that.
or, maybe negavols like you were the first to vote...there's no listing of the voters,,,otherwise I could prove my hypothèse

But alas, YOU are not my target audience for this post as you were most probably one of the minority faction. Sucks to be in the minority

Interesting stat, one that seemed intuitively correct to me but I hadn't actually checked. Kim is the sort of hire I expected all along for reasons that have been mentioned ad infinitum. For the record, I think the coach we need should meet the first two criteria, but not necessarily the championship part. After all, we have an HOF men's coach who has never won a natty and probably won't, but the men have never been coached by a Pat either and that, IMO, is the difference. We have a significant number of fans with unrealistic expectations given the current state of women's college bb. I'm not so sure that Pat herself would be as dominant in today's environment as she was 30 years ago, and a consistent top ten/final four contender would be pretty darn good in my book.

It goes without saying that Summitt would not be as dominant today as she was back in the day. She coached when the sport was embryonic--and took advantage of that. There were fewer teams, FAR less competition, far fewer good players. Indeed, she was less dominant her last 10 years. Wasn't Geno 4-0 against her/us in NCAA titles games? Sad to say, I think he was--and she struggled with the offensive side of the game. Her success was much like Anson Dorrance's success in soccer at UNC--won a ton of titles in the early days of collegiate soccer--and while his teams are still very good, it's been a while since the Heels won a national title, though they've been close a lot. Wooden at UCLA coached at time when collegiate basketball was still pretty young and far different from the game we see now. UCLA hasn't been the same since he retired long ago, though they've had a handful of good teams and have won at least one post-Wooden national title. We'd still be strong if Summitt were still around--but surely not dominant. Look at Geno and UConn: still very good but no longer dominant.

🤣 The level of shade you and @madtownvol throw is high level. I mean that as a compliment to you both. It's far more exquisite than the "you suck" of the common fan.

I would crawl over broken glass to witness their scintillating feud.

I will not, however, go so far as to guarantee consumption of cat poop based upon the outcome.

It’s a healthy back and forth. I don’t claim to be the smartest one in the room, but I won’t let my words or stance be twisted by others. If you shoot your shot, don’t miss. I’m sure it’ll calm down as the issue of defending Kellie will slowly heal by those hurt by her dismissal.

Being in the minority here doesn't bother me a bit, dude. Suffice to say, I'm not a homer--and I've never been one to pretend the program is A-OK when it obviously isn't--as you and so many others have done. The program has not been good for a long time.

I've been following this program since the PS years. I've spent serious time with national-title winning coaches on the men's side. In the last several years of PS's coaching career, I used to get on an early Vol board run by M. Cornelius and express serious concerns about our poor offensive play. It was not good and obviously becoming an issue--even as we were winning games with ugly offensive displays--but few wanted to hear it, least of all Ms. Cornelius, protector of the flame, who broached no criticism of the saintly Summitt. (Such parochialism!) It was rather funny, actually--she would huff and puff at any critical comments. I said years before it happened that UConn was going to be a problem--and that if our offensive efficiency didn't improve Geno was goinog to leave us in the dust. And what happened? I effort to be clear-eyed. I didn't like either the Warlick or Harper hires--and said so from days they were announced. I was in the minority then, no?

And, no, I don't like this hire. I wanted someone with experience winning at the major level. That's what the program hasn't had--and in my view and that of others, that's what the program needed. It's pretty clear that White didn't make much of an attempt to hire an established coach. That was annoying. Caldwell is an obvious reach--an indisputable reach. To use an NFL analogy, it's taking a QB that analysts pegged as a 5th-round pick in the first round. It doesn't mean she won't succeed. I haven't said that. It just means it could be more of a gamble. I sincerely hope she succeeds--since she's here now. We all want to see the program reach true title contender status again after floundering for many years.

Who is your "target audience," Jump? Fans who don't know basketball? That seems to be your suggestion.

You do, however, need to either proofread better or send off for Bobcat Goldthwaite's correspondence course in self-deprecatory humor.

Millions would crawl over broken glass for such an opportunity.

Hmm, and then there is you. Chiming in when it’s easier to scroll on past. You do know he doesn’t have a “e” in his last name? Speaking of proofreading and all.

Ah, but you're only going by his stage name.

"Excuse the bad analogy, but I’m still trying to make sense of this. You know how Marshall fared in its last game? It lost to Virginia Tech in the NCAA Tournament 92-49."

Congratulations, Coach. That 43-point loss just got you a huge promotion. ( John Adams article ). When Ms Caldwell said today at the press conference to John Adams, I wouldn't be here if i didn't think my system would work here" Took some FIRE to reply to Mr. Adams that way.

Anyone think Matthew Mitchell would be interested in an assistant position? I'd prefer an all-female staff, but Mitchell is such a good guy I wouldn't mind him. Like Goestenkors and DeMoss, maybe after all the stress of being a head coach he might just welcome a secondary role at a great program.

With all due respect, your posting pattern is that of a "tedious, toxic, twat" (thank you brainyquote.com!!!)

My boredom tolerance has been reached and I will not be seeing any more of your "contributions" to the board. Feel free to reciprocate.
