Thursday's Practice 3/27

Imo, best case scenario is Worley is the starter Dobbs gets a RS year and Ferguson gets reps. I also have a suspicion that if RF gets an opportunity in a game, when it matters, he'll never lose his spot.

We've got 2 QB's here with experience under their belt in Worley and Dobbs. I believe we can win with Worley from what I saw last year. He'll have another year under his belt in this system by the start of the season. Dobbs also has experience and will have another year of improvements under his belt as well. Ferguson could be a star waiting to breakout. I don't feel that Peterman is in the conversation as much. I for one am excited to see what works out with the QB's. I think we've got some solid choices and better weapons for them to utilize. I'm more concerned with the O-line at this point. We may not have a superstar at QB yet, but if the O-line can hold up, we've got enough to get the ball to some playmakers.

The only concern I have about NP is that his confidence may have taken a major hit in that Florida game. I hope the coaches are helping him past this. I think he's a good QB but too much was asked of him at the wrong time and against the wrong team. But then again, Dobbs was fed to Bama. Still. . . .

If you have 2 Starting QB's you have none. If you have 4 starting QB's I guess you have to recruit ? Seriously Second year in the system and nobody is getting IT more than anyone else ? Seems strange to me.

This n means issues n games next year if something doesn't change.ex fla experiment..

I believe all of our QBs can be successful with the weapons we have if our Oline gives them enough time in the pocket

Disappointing thread. All of the other practice threads brought substantial information. This one is just a bunch of boobs arguing over whether or not to cut all four scholarship QB's two weeks into spring practice.

A lot of the reports just come from these video interviews from after practice. There was only two posted in this thread but the rest of the coaches were interviewed also. Only thing you don't get are some of the incites reporters give about what they actually saw at practice. And the TSR guys usually do a pretty good breakdown but I don't think they released one from yesterday yet.

Check it out. Its all on youtube

Makes you wonder about the coaching staff's ability to develop a QB. QB was a major weakness last year and all of these guys were highly rated coming out of high school.

The longer it takes to declare the winner...the shorter the window to transfer for the ones that lost out.

Same here. I was hoping Blair would be the guy to step in to Tiny's shoes. He still may. Hopefully just the coaches trying to motivate him.

I recall one of the OL or DL players mentioning that Blair needed to commit to his conditioning and strength development. That was I think, during the 2nd or 3rd practice session. Or maybe just before practice began and they were still in the S&C sessions. The tone of the statement implied a sort of impatience and if, if, if I recall right, the player's face indicated as much. Would have to locate the video to check that if I have time. In any case it implied a lack of blue collar workmanship. I dismissed it at the time as he's a JUCO and had yet to understand in the SEC you can't go half-azzed. Size notwithstanding, if you don't do the strength stuff, you will find yourself being knocked, not pushed, but knocked 6 or more feet off the ball. We saw that happening during the 2011 or 2010 season with one of our OL-men. Either Florida or Bama game.

Blair has to learn he's not playing community college ball now where he got by with his natural size and strength alone. This is NFLjr and if you aren't up to par, you get cleat prints on your bottom every game.

Pay attention . No one is talking about cutting all four qb's but when the HC for the first time , gives a strong indication that in the near future you may see the reps be distributed differently , why wouldn't it be talked about ?

or did you miss this
After sitting in on quarterback meetings Tuesday and then watching his team practice that afternoon, Jones did tell VolQuest.com that repetitions could become less evenly divided at the quarterback spot --- if a player's performance dictates as much.

"They're going to earn their reps, so if they start performing they'll earn their reps. If individuals are struggling a little bit, we're going to back off their reps," Jones exclusively told VolQuest.com. "Everything is earned in our program, so they're going to have to earn their repetitions."

Calm down Suzy,

He made an exaggerated statement that was actually quite funny.

The statement had more to do with Blair's conditioning. However, the same statement was said of Owen Williams. It is a learning curve for ALL of the Juco players. I am sure the same will be said of Weathered when he gets here. I will say that the clips that I have seen of Blair in the Circle of Life, he has absolutely destroyed the man in front of him.

I'd rather your comments are true than mine. Yet the fact remains, he's demoted. Could just be a coach's motivational ploy. I'd prefer that than what I suspect.

Earlier someone, Kerbyson perhaps, said he was out of shape. If that is the main issue, then he should be much better by Summer.

Don't be surprised if Coleman Thomas moves over there. Worse case, Jackson can play tackle and Wiesman/ Crowder guard...Or was it Crowder with some tackle experience?

Well, I doubt any of the 4 have gone backwards.

Off the record, I would bet that they would say Ferguson is playing best, especially on passing distance & accuracy; Worley and Dobbs close behind having better command of the offense but trailing Ferguson overall. Slightly behind them would be Peterman trying his best to make up the gap.

I've got a feeling that CBJ is not going to make a QB decision until a week before USU. They are very adament about there being no separation. It's been their mantra for all 7 practices. If there continues to be no separation who do we start?

Until Worley doesn't go out first with the 1's... it is more than likely Worley.

I am confident that all 4 have the talent to play in the SEC and that at least 3 of them can win.

Spin that as coach speak if you wish, but it doesn't sound good to me at all. No clear QB and a new o-line, yippee! We got a long way to go though and I'm hopeful someone will step up. I say Dobbs.

So... according to you if guys are competing closely it obviously means none of them are any good?

It could just as easily mean that ALL are good enough to play well.

QB was less of a weakness even with Dobbs than WR. WR looks to be improved night and day from last year.

Worley DID prove that he could lead an O to improvement AND win a big game.
