Tiffany's Thread (updates and prayers, and a place where she can smack Joe in public when he needs it :)

We're at the hospital for her mom's biopsy. The pet scan was supposed to be yesterday, but insurance is fighting it, gotta get it approved. Hard to fathom that someone having cancer, needs these things to help determine treatment, and last minute the insurance says no it's gotta be approved. I don't understand all of it, they'd already called and told her what she'd have to pay for copay from the hospital, then called back and said insurance was fighting it.

Insurace isn't to take care of people. It's to make people money. That's the sad reality.

Praying for y'all today.

Idk if it's normal, don't know anything about a lung biopsy, but I'm guessing it is, but they did a couple of X-rays afterwards. Tiffany was showing me on the patient portal, her lungs are pretty eat up. I'm no Dr, but it doesn't sound good, and with it already on her liver and larynx, that's probably what's in her hip like the cancer Dr said. I reckon they did/do the X-ray after to make sure the lung didn't collapse. Should know something from the biopsy in about a week. In other news, Tiffany's nurse is spending the night, she's gotta do the IVIG tomorrow. I hate saying this, but maybe it's good that the California thing is taking longer. That way if things are as bad as it's seeming, she's getting more time with her mom.

Yep, post-lung biopsy xrays are perfectly normal. In fact, it would probably be a sign of bad medical care if they didn't. They want to make sure that there's no bleeding from the biopsy, and no air leaking from the lung(s).

I'm so sorry about all of this.

I do have a friend who has had lung cancer since around 2010 and he is still plugging right along and still smokes about 3 packs a day.

We're not Drs, but some wording was obvious, and some stuff we've googled. Her biopsy results came into her portal, and I didn't know that they could determine if it's spread through a biopsy until today. I don't have any experience personally with any kind of cancer, so I've just never really looked into anything. We're unsure of the type, what they'd call it, but it definitely doesn't sound good. It said they took 6 samples from different tumors, and about the only negative was for renal cells/DNA, and cervix. It said origin possibility is breast, gastrointestinal, pancreas, and colon. We're just guessing, but guessing that means it could have started in those areas, and not necessarily the lungs. It did say radiological scans recommended to determine origin. I'm not taking anything we're guessing as gospel, but like I said, some stuff was plain, and some stuff we've googled. Her pet scan is next Thursday, and she goes for the results of everything February 1st. We may be way off, hopefully, but my pea brain understanding doesn't think it sounds hopeful.

My mom fought ovarian cancer for six years. Cancer is a massive amount of suck.

I remember some posts you made. Like I said, we may be misunderstanding that report, it may be something that she can fight through, or for a while at least.
If they can figure out the primary (cancer cells are different types [“histology”] depending on what the primary site was), and IF she wanted to try chemotherapy/ immunotherapy, knowing the primary helps them pick which drugs to use. It also helps estimate life expectancy, although there are a ton of variables there.

This is really tough, though, having so many metastatic sites.

Still praying for you guys. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Yeah, it's seeing the "positive " beside so many things that has Tiffany upset. She hasn't told her mom we googled stuff, but her parents have seen it now, and talking about it.

Tiffany's mom got her oil finally, they came up here and met the guy. That stiff stinks, but hopefully it helps her. She's hurting pretty bad for her to be willing to take it. Which if it was me, I'd rather have that, than pills. Cancer dr offered her pain pills, but she doesn't like them because of how they make her sick.

O Lord, through the passion of the most sacred heart of Jesus, I beseech Thee to heal Tiffany. We thank you for giving her and her family the courage to face the situations so that others may see your perpetual light shining through them, a beacon of strength that overcomes setbacks, and reaffirms your precious love for all. In the name of Jesus Christ, King of Kings, please hear and bless this prayer O Heavenly Father. Amen
