i don't think people fathom how good even the guys on the Nationwide Tour are.
and that point can't be made emphatically enough. We're talking about guys that are carrying around +6 and better style numbers. Those guys can punch up 63s pretty regularly on some relatively tough tracks.

he hurt a knee and didn't get to play much. He's headed back out this year. Just shored up his sponsors and started practice with his new coach. He'll be kicking back off in about 6 weeks.

that putter sure makes it look like he's the best chipper and pitcher. I don't really know if he is, but the putter slams the door better than everyone else, so the results are better.

There are probably guys who can manufacture the shots from gunk and around the greens, but there aren't any that can do that AND putt like Tiger. I think he is hands down the best short game player in the game and best iron player. He's an awful driver of the ball, but I'd pick the other two to be THE best at all day long.

See, you all talk like some part of his game will eventually fail him, (I'm not saying it won't) but what happens if he develops into a consistent driver of the ball? Flip the coin

you really think it's a 50 / 50 that he goes the other way with the driver? That's crazy talk.

First, there would be another tour. Second, Tiger could start his own tour right now and the PGA tour would definitely be relegated to the minor leagues.

No, you're right I don't know you, but making statements like this are the sole reason I responded to you a while back.

You just dont' have an understanding of it.

I'll let you know. Best finish last year was a 4th. The knee was definitely a problem and the high right flamer from stuck club became a once or twice per round shot. Think he has ironed that out and is playing well. New coach has him hitting a little lower.

The one or two tournaments a year he drives the ball well are usually routs. Thing is though, he has never been a great driver of the ball; however, because of his great iron play and length, he can hit the stinger 2 iron on many holes which others have to hit driver. Look at Hoy Lake a couple of years ago. He hit driver once, but because of the hard ground and his unbelievable iron play, he dusted the field. What makes him so good are not only the tangibles but the intangibles. When he gets it going, everyone knows its over. The next time he chokes will be the first time. Other than Nicklaus, almost every other great player has had moments when the choke factor got the best of them. Watson, Ballesteros, Faldo, NORMAN..etc....all of them choked from time to time during their career. Tiger can't spell/say choke. No one in the history of the game has made as many clutch putts as Tiger. And the number of 5-10 footers he makes when the pressure is on is phenomenal

This talk has motivated me to go out and hit about 75 balls this afternoon. Time to start honing the game for the spring. Going to play Colonial and Preston Trail in March.

Ok! It is a ridiculous statement, and I don't truly believe it. I would lose a lot of respect for Tiger if he attempted it, and I don't think he would because I think he respects what has come before him and he will respect what comes after him.

My only point is, the tour needs Tiger. Without him, their ratings will fall, their attendance will fall, and their bottom line will fall.

The second post was "has anybody actually missed Tiger?" I should have just said, "Yes, me!" But what fun would that be?

I guess you are being a smart-@$$, but I was saying look at it from that perspective. I guess flip the coin doesn't convey what I was saying
I wasn't being a smart ass. You called it a coin toss, which said to me that you view it as a 50-50 proposition. I don't think the odds are anywhere near that close. Probably more like 90-10.

Under Butch, with that classic swing, he drove it well. With this Haney thing, steep follow through and hook, I just don't think he's ever going to get there. Hookin' Hank just doesn't seem to be the guy. Butch had Tiger's swing on the money and it was beautiful. Now, his routine is hideous as is much of the swing.

Colonial is a great track.

You're right. I got to play it last year for the first time. It is a perfect set-up for me. Because it isn't monster long, I don't have to hit long irons into the par fours and thus can shoot a reasonable score. Had a 74 last year. Hoping to get it down around par this year. My brother lives across the street and his next door neighbor is a member. My brother got on a waiting list to join, but it might be another couple of years before he can get in. We are also going to play at his club, Ridglea, which has a men's only championship course at about 7400 yards. It is supposed to be tougher than Colonial.

Preston Trail should be a treat as well.

haven't been on Preston Trail, but have played Colonial a few times. After the Horseshoe, it plays very modestly, but those 3 are a legit beast. If you can't go over the tree at 3, it's monstrous. 4 is one of the most ridiculous par 3's ever and 5 is 460 uphill dogging right. Just monstrous.

the PGA, PGA Tour, and USGA (to name a few) have all been around long before Tiger and will continue to be around long after Tiger is gone

From the tips? There is hope for you after all. JK!! I just didn't like being told I was uninformed when I have lived golf since birth. You never know who you are dealing with on a message board, but some people drive me crazy thinking they know it all because they watch tv and think its informed to repeat what they hear.

LG1 drove me crazy on the golf thread cause he was throwing around advice like he knew it all, and then he posts that he played and shot 95.

Anyways, the dang weather flipped from 60's to 30's here in East Tennessee so I won't be out whacking anything this weekend. Haven't played in 30's and rain since college and don't plan on doing it again anytime soon. But the itch is killing me.
