Multiple fourth down stops
Multiple sacks
Pressure all night
Held our Clemson to numerous field goal attempts
The most aggressive DC in the sec

And we have far more defensive talent coming in next year than we have now

Edit: add multiple turnovers
I remember when people wanted to fire him when we were undefeated still

I had been a huge Banks guy; however I got real hard on him as the season went on. I tried to look and show the positives……however at times it got real bad.

Banks (in my opinion) definitely won that game for Tennessee (along with the D)……and earned another year with fan support.

He had an outstanding game plan. Stopping the run (early) and getting after their young QB and it worked. The D seemed to get worn out late because of all the snaps and did give up a lot more rushing yards overall…….however they were on point in the first half and kept their intensity throughout.

Banks showed why he was highly thought of when he came here. Not to mention Tennessee was down a lot of players and was on the field over 36 minutes.

Congrats to Banks and congrats to the Tennessee D.

This defense played their asses off tonight and Aaron Beasley was the player of this game.

Dumb statement is dumb. Defense has been solid despite Vandy level talent
We gave up 500 yds to Florida and 600 to South Carolina. I wouldn't call that solid. And we have better talent than Vandy. Much improved for this game but need this to be a consistent thing with teams we don't have a month to prepare for. Nonetheless, not going to take anything away from what they did tonight.

Defense got after it tonight. The Clemson QB's jersey told the story. That's what you have to do to hide a bad secondary and they did it well tonight.

He has called a great game but we did catch some breaks with their fg kicker.

Gbo!
Do you guys just think field goals are given ? Its part of the game. It is their job to make them.... its our job to force them. Idgaf how many yards we gave up the defense played its best most complete game in its biggest moment.

The 1980s called and they want their metrics back. No one measures a defense by total yards

No doubt, however a couple of those were really long and hey give them 9……….they still lose……….give them 9 and let them score a TD on the fake……….they still LOSE!!!!!!

Ok we gave up 33 and 63 points. Is that better?

No it’s not really. You should look at 3rd down %, yards per play, and points per drive. Points per game is skewed by pace. Those stats are not

One of the more surprising defensive performances since #2 Miami/Jimmy Johnson ran up the score on us in 1985 7-35.

When the D is on the field 40 minutes a game, you can throw out the yards given up.
