Tim Banks contract extension

Proving my point. We did look really good against averages offenses. OU was below average on offense and UF and Bama were definitely not world beaters. We also gave up 300+ yards through the air aganst Akransas...and lost. The point is, and it's fact, when going against better offensive coordinators Banks is just average and that's probably putting it nicely.
Bobo is not a good OC. He just has athletes, more than we do.

Alabama was 22nd in scoring offense and 28th in yards per play. They weren't bad at all. UF, believe it or not, was 30th in yards per play.

Good. He is okay at what he does, and the defense has continued to improve since he has been here. I think stability helps us as we have a lot of returning talent next year on that side of the ball.

I have been critical of Banks but at least we know what we are getting with him.
lol. Look at what Banks has done since he has gotten here. Show me, using actual data, of 10 DCs that have done a much better job than Banks. And also factor in we play in the SEC.

Okay at what he does? Banks is elite at what he does and the actual numbers prove it.

Just to add... UF was a different team when DJ Lagway was taking the snaps. Florida also had to play a walk-on Ivy League redshirt-freshman transfer quarterback for 6+ quarters when Lagway went down during the Georgia game (Florida had the lead at the time), otherwise Florida would have likely been higher than 30th in YPP. Florida's season started with Graham Mertz, who played fine for Florida, but he just can't do the things Lagway can do.

We will have our hands full with Lagway next season.

All I want to know is who did Banks interview with? Not Clemson, they got their guy. Does anyone know? If you are serious about hiring a coach, you first request permission to talk to them. What do we know? What the agent told us? Somebody enlighten us?

Does it matter now? Clemson and Miami had real interest here imo.

Yes it does matter; was there actual interest, or was it created by the agent? That would be handy information for down the road. Don't you think?? We have many opinions on the matter, I'm interested in facts.

Nah. I think his agent did his job on this. We've followed a lot coaching searches on here and this one never really felt like there was a chance he was leaving. It just didn't. Which tells me his name got floated by his agent so he could ink a new deal here.

His defenses are proven to be good, but I’ve had my doubts about “the adjustments” during games where the defense is getting torched - like the Ohio state game. Also South Carolina in 22, Alabama 2nd half in 23, Missouri 23, and several other games.
Don’t forget how bad Carson Beck was the previous 2 games before playing Tennessee. Suddenly, he’s a Heisman-type performer against us.

Good news, just wish they would put a sack incentive in where maybe we blitz more JMO
More disguises would be the ticket. More in game adjustments. But alas, Opposing teams look at UT Game film and know exactly whats coming. Told in their own words. With a smirk.

Yep, UT's defense gave up 90% completions vs Uga & Osu. Nine out of ten passes were caught. You can't hardly do that against air.....

Thank you! There for a minute I thought we were in the Sunny Bahamas.

I’m not disappointed that he’s staying. I mean we could do far worse, but I think he needs to do a better job of in game adjustments, like we should’ve blitz more in games, especially when we were giving the quarterback all day to throw and the soft D and letting them have the 10 and 15 yard stuff over the middle, I’m sure some of that is needing better talent, I just hope our secondary can improve some more, we really got exposed on the backend from teams that are able to throw the ball
If the QB has time you’ll always make them look good. I get what you mean about blitzing but he does blitz more than almost any defensive coordinator. In the GA game, I wanted him to blitz more too but when we did bring more people we still didn’t put pressure on Beck. We ran into a motivated UGA team with better overall talent.

Very much a meh for me. He's not terrible but he's not great. He benefited from Garner and Inge this year IMO. But in the games that mattered most, he was outcoahced and outschemed. Did really well against mediocre offense though. But Here's to hoping our passing game improves significantly next year so we can outscore the really good teams we play.
Well played, criticize the DC, guaranteed to get you some likes from the recalcitrants on this board!

Defense got better each year but yeah meh.

We're fans. And the one thing we get to do on a message board? Rant and rave about position coaches!

Kelly at OSU made him his bitch.....as did UGA...and well, pitiful ARK too.
Happens to great teams, most aren't perfect all the time. Also consistent high level recruiting takes time am I right? What's wrong with losing a few matchups. Life is full of failures so you can learn to be successful lmao.
