Time to Toss the Ugly Gray Uniforms

Should we drop the "Smokey" uniforms?

I was just pointing out the parallel between that and your opinion on the jerseys. It's easier to blame something that stands out like uniforms than to honestly assess and analyze our situation from all angles.

Blaming all of our country's problems on one man is akin to blaming all of our football teams problems on new uniforms. Both show ignorance and a lack of ability to look beyond face value.

This is a thread primarily about uniforms - other issues about our program are addressed in infinite number of other threads. But I strongly believe that if you don't care about your traditions and history you lose track of who you are. Examples of changes you mentioned are not as much changes as various things that were added to our traditions over time (and there is nothing wrong with that). But some basic baseline values should be always kept sacred - it may seem trivial to you (and recruits) but we are known for orange and that should not be messed with. Just like this country has never been socialist and that should not be messed with (and while Obama is not the only politician pushing socialist ideas in this country he is the most visible symbol of that ideology).

Only reason I liked the grey? The players liked it. They think it looks good. I didn't, but if they could win in them, and they were something original, I can deal with it.

However, I am losing count of how many teams are wearing grey alternates. So much for original. And we aren't winning in them, so now they are just butt ugly to me now.

In the past ten years, Tennessee is 1-0 in black, and 0-2 in smokey grey. Nuff said.
The players there now may like it but what about all the 1000's of players before. You know, especially when we were winning. Just saying.

It is very telling that the 3 teams at the top of the BCS standings are wearing essentially the same set of uniforms that they have worn for decades. A winning tradition doesn't depend on change for the sake of change.

It doesn't tell anything. Why are we making this about the uniform? We are losing because we just suck right now. Uniforms have nothing to do with it. Just like when we start winning, the uniforms will have nothing to do with it.

Can we shut the f*** up about the jerseys! Really? This is what some of our fan base has become. If you think the jerseys had anything to do with that game you have to be the dumbest son of b**ches I know of.

It isn't the color of uniform we wear- whether it be white, orange or smoky gray- it's the talent, passion to play & win a game, play big boy football, stay consistent all 4 quarters, hungry for a huge win and all the other factors that mix together to have a winning team/season. We are sick of leaving our Neyland stadium with a sour stomach.. I pray, hope that our future holds a stronger winning team.

GO VOLS..
GO BIG ORANGE ...
