Tired of McCarron love

Not a fan. Too few games where talent and coaching were comparable on the opposing sideline.

He won't see that advantage in the pros.

So Peyton only racked up stats vs teams of comparable or better talent than UT? AJ has managed to accomplish what he has, at a time when the SEC is undoubtedly the best it's ever been, top to bottom. The SEC in the mid-late 90's, when Peyton dominated, was nothing like it is today.

What does he not do effectively? In 3 years he's thrown for 8,243 yds, 72 TD's and 13 INT's with an aggregate completion % of 67.2%.

He doesn't throw for 4000 yds a year because he doesn't have to; Alabama is very balanced and will beat with you both their smash mouth run game & their precision air attack. I hate Alabama, but people are idiots to not give credit where credit is due.

This all day. AJ deserves a lot of credit. The guy has been very underrated his whole career. The only reason he doesn't get more attention is because Bama tends to lean heavily on their running game. I think he is one of the best QBs in the country. He is also seems to be a classy dude that knows how to lead his team and win games. He really shows up in big games as well.

Something else I'll share. My wife's uncle said if Bama played Chatt the way they played Auburn they'd have lost to them too.

I've never heard a Bama fan admit the better team won. Ever. Haha

I agree bama fans can be hard to take but I respect the faith they have in their team I wish Vol fans were still like that.

I thought we were, never seen people who call themselves Vol fans talk so negatively about our program until I joined VN, guess it is what it is

How many Nick Saban QB's have succeeded in the NFL?

Greg McElroy has as many SEC titles as a starting QB as McCarron.

My prediction, McCarron's path after college will be similar to Jimmy Clausen's.

So because AJ doesn't have eye popping stats in college means he won't succeed in the NFL? What were Rodgers and Brady's stats in college again?

I'm not sure which is sadder: Your wife's uncle said it, you believed it, or you repeated it.

If you think the way Alabama played against Auburn, losing by one touchdown on the road, would equate to losing to UTC, there is not much hope for you. Maybe if they played in Chattanooga... Nah....

Hes just a glorified check-down king. Im a 5'11'' 190 pound former D-Lineman at a Single-A high school and I could put up his stats if i was given Bama's Run game and receivers.

I don't think the kid will ever be an elite QB, because I think he lacks the accuracy. However, I could see him developing into a a solid starter or fantastic backup QB.

His Heisman play was an under thrown ball that Cooper turned into a TD score.

Like I said, he will never develop into an elite QB at the next level, due to his lack of elite accuracy. However, that doesn't mean he can minimize those mistakes and become a starter or backup somewhere. If Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne, Matt McGloin, Case Keenum, Matt Flyn, Terrell Pryor, Christian Ponder, Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, Josh Freeman, Matt Cassel, Sam Bradford, Matt Leinart, etc. etc. etc. can start in the league at some point or another, I think McCarron can do it.
