Tired of McCarron love

Didn't Brody play HS ball at Hoover? I'd think that'd be pretty hard on the knees starting from then.

He played for a private school in Rainbow City, AL. But, if I remember right, he did have some knee issues coming out of HS.

How many UT fans lose sleep over Tee Martin not making it in the NFL?

I'm guessing the number is low.

Zero...only reason I mentioned it was the AJ McCarron "NFL" haters earlier in thread.

No one with half a brain would question/debate that AJ is a great college qb

It'd be similar to saying Wuerffel sucked in college based on his NFL career - ridiculous

I don't think the kid will ever be an elite QB, because I think he lacks the accuracy. However, I could see him developing into a a solid starter or fantastic backup QB.

67% career completion percentage, his accuracy is fine. He has a better completion % than Rodgers did at Cal and is he an elite QB? How is Tom Brady doing in the NFL? How about Roethlisberger? McCarrons completion % is better than all of those guys. The hate is ridiculous.

McCarron has an ok arm, but he is not a mobile qb. He has been surrounded by a much better than average ol the whole time he has been the qb at Alabama. To his credit, though, he is fairly accurate with his passes as proven by his low td/int ratio. However, if he had been a qb at UT, he would have been locked in a battle with the likes of Worley, etc. To sum it all up in just a few words, he is nothing special.

I think he's a similar QB to Casey Clausen. I don't get all the hate for him as a player.

Yes, I'm hating on McCarron. Can you read? His stats are slightly inflated due to Bama's success in the play action game. When called upon to make throws that a pro QB needs to make, I've not seen him do it at a consistent rate. Like I said before, I think he could be a good QB and solid starter, or a really good backup QB. Not sure how that is hating on someone, as I'd love to be in that position.

Hmmmm I wonder how many people thought Brady would be an elite QB? McCarron can make any throw needed on the field. He can make any throw that Manziel, Bridgewater, Boyd or Petty can. So he has it done it at a consistent rate but that doesn't mean he can't make those throws. If he gets on a good team that can develop his talent some more, how do you know he cannot be an elite QB?

It's possible that AJ completely fails in the NFL. However there is also the possibility he becomes an elite QB. It doesn't matter that his stats are inflated because of play action. The fact is he is an accurate passer who has good arm strength and great game management skills. Like I said he is more accurate than Rodgers and Big Ben in college and both of them are elite in the NFL. It's a small amount of hate because you're making assumptions about his talent like you're an NFL scout. Like another poster said if AJ had been the QB for UT, people would be saying he is the next Peyton Manning.

If he could make every throw, he's be the #1 pick.

Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Colin Kaepernik, Russell Wilson, RGIII, Joe Flacco, Donovon McNabb, Dante Culpepper, Dan Marino, Steve Young, Joe Montana, Tony Romo, Kurt Warner. I guess all of these guys can't make every throw on the field because they weren't the #1 picks :eek:lol::eek:lol:

McCarron plays at Alabama with two national title rings. You tell me why he won't be a #1 pick.

He's an above average college QB that plays for the best dynasty in college football history. Aaron Murray, Connor Shaw, and James Franklin would have won one SEC title at Bama. He's not a legitimate NFL starting QB. It doesn't take Bill Walsh to see that.

So because he is not going to be the #1 pick means he will not be a legit starting QB in the NFL? Please explain your logic. You're apparently wrapped up into thinking a QB has to be the first pick to be good, why? I never said he would be the #1 pick.

He is not going to be the #1 pick because there are some offensive and defensive linemen that have a better shot. So what? Alabama is a predominantly running offense, so I guess that's AJs fault. I understand he is an Alabama player and as UT fans we are supposed to hate them but post like this is borderline idiocy. No offense but your logic is severely flawed.

Is that what I said? No it wasn't. If AJ could make all the throws he would be the first pick with his intangibles. But he can't make all the throws. Which is why he won't be the #1 pick.

I don't care that he plays for Bama. I hate Georgia more than Bama. Aaron Murray is a damn fine QB.

This is simply the fact AJ is an above average QB. It's not hard to see at all. Nobody gets time to throw like he does. He has the best coach in America. The best offensive line and five star playmakers. He has above average arm strength, decent footwork, struggles to read deep passing plays, and check downs when he doesn't have to. IF IF IF he gets on the perfect team, he could be Alex Smith. Stop buying the ESPN hype.

Even I find that absurd .

But if I needed a QB and had no idea who would be on my team for college...

Bray> McCarron

I'd need to see Bray's girlfriend first. I know what AJ is bringing to the table in that dept.

And this is why you aren't coaching or scouting in college football.

I don't consider myself a silly Tennessee homer. I make an effort to be fair. I see Bray and McCarron as pretty close equal. Bray has more physical ability as a QB and natural talent. McCarron is probably smarter than Bray and leads a more mature life. That maturity comes out in McCarron's game to give him an edge over many other SEC qb's. If I'm forced to choose, I'm taking Murray then Bray if after talking to him he seems like he may grow up in the near future.

If Bray came to Alabama under Nick Saban, sat for two years, then started at Alabama with McCarron's team, he would have gotten an SEC title and a national title.

But but but but but AJ has more intangibles!
