'21 TN ATH Andre Turrentine (Tennessee signee - Transfer from Ohio St.)

Would be a huge get, and would definitely soften the blow of losing Keyshawn to Oklahoma.

I blindly trusted Pruitt with regards to DBs but OSU is a defensive back factory and it made me wonder why this kid was good enough for them but we never really pursued.
IIRC we pursued and actually moved into a good spot with him until Kerry Coombs went to Ohio State and recruited him

Some people here piss me off. They complain about the players we have, but then complain about a potential transfer that didn't start at an elite school as a true freshman. I guess they forget that Bama's best WR last season was a bench rider at Ohio St. the previous year..
No comment. -- Joe Burrow

I don't think we have enough proven depth for anyone outside of Kamal Hadden and Tank McCollough locked in positionally in terms of the secondary

The way the staff talked about Flowers, I’d be shocked if he’s not a starter. Got way more praise than fellow Safety #22.

Frankly I wouldn’t lock Hadden in either. He wasn’t Burrell level bad in the bowl game (his most snaps) but other than his pick on a poorly thrown ball he didn’t cover himself in glory vs. Purdue anymore than anyone else.

Hopefully, Flowers plays the STAR this year. He would be great there IMO. I'm not saying Tank and Hadden are locked into the lineup but that Hadden is only a corner and Tank is only a SS

Word. If I had to bet one anyone starting somewhere I’d probably put best odds on Flowers and next best on Charles.

Aligns with Doug Mathews comments yesterday on Big Orange Sunday. Portal emphasis will be on difference makers at DE and DB especially ones who have 3 years or more of eligibility.

Quashon Fuller from FSU could be a possibility if they want a DE with 3+ yrs left. Former 4 star, top 200 overall edge guy 6'3 260+lbs. I have no idea who we will get but i def agree we need another DL and obviously a DB.

That was just painfully obvious. Tennessee needs high caliber guys at the positions and then we’ll see what Martinez ceiling is. If he can’t make the defense much better he may be the first man out under Hype.
WM has proved himself over plenty of seasons. Even what he did last year by improving our pass defense in just 1 year (over 2020 Pruitt defense) was pretty impressive.

But let's not act like he's been dealt the best hand. Both he and LB coach have been handed a tough situation. Will take time to reach better than "just" a nationally average pass defense.

Without Theo and AT, it's hard not to see some regression, except a better pass rush may offset those losses...fingers crossed.

Does anyone know if we are even pursuing this kid?
Literally every OSU mod mentioned us in their thread.

I think it's already known.

They also said he wasn't quite in their 2-deep expectations for the Fall, but also that it was a very deep position for them. With how thin we are, who knows...he could be depth...or the best we have...hard to tell.

A bit surprised at DE with our aging talent (BY, Baron), along with our freshman talent...and on top of that our (expected) 2023 signees.

Feels like we have a nice gravy train going (or coming) at DE.

Maybe I'm missing something, but really shocked there isn't more emphasis on LBs. Or are Willis and other young guys expected to make a big leap?
