'22 TN ATH/RB Dallan Hayden (Ohio State commit)

I disagree. It's not to say that they can't win it all. A blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while. But let's just look at recent history defined as "in the recruits lifetime". A 17 year old kid would be born in 2003. over those 17 years, the SEC has won 12 NC games. While OSU has a title during that run, they, like most teams, are flashes in the pan. They beat Oregon to win it all. They all make the obligatory "hey! look! We stumbled into a NC game against a non-SEC team and won!"

I know what you're going to say. "They at least make it to the NC game and that's something, right?" But like I said, they are a solid choice if your goal is to finish 2nd. Getting curb stomped by and SEC team in the NC game is no conciliation prize. That's like celebrating taking the prettiest girl to the prom despite the fact that she left with another guy.

Do you realize how many guys they put in the league

Ohio State is in the top 4 nationally with the talent year to year to win a NC. You can make your argument for any team other than Alabama so it’s not valid argument. Ohio State is certainly an attractive destination as any program other than Alabama.

Back on topic....this is the one "flip" we really need. He's perfect for this offense. I know RB's a plentiful and we have so many needs at other positions, but if I could only have one flip, it would be Hayden.

Yep need this one. We need a big back thst can handle the toll. If not maybe a nice consolation would be Teague transfers here

Where’s your evidence that it isn’t about money or in todays terms, NIL deals? You have to be living under a rock to think a higher ranked kid isn’t looking out for his immediate future.
If you notice, on every thread all "BigOrangeTrain" does is start arguments over the absolute dumbest, nitpickiest crap. Not worth the time. Just likes to hear themselves talk.

Morons who do not think it is about the money have never made any money.
I have made money. I am making very good money.

It isn't all about the money. Some people are wise enough to see that. It is very short-sighted to think in terms of it being "about the money". Making a wise choice might not result in the most immediate reward- financial or otherwise. There are hidden "costs" that often come with "money" like stress, time, quality of life, family stability, etc. You can't put a price tag on them but they're real.

A few years ago I had two good offers. One paid significantly more than the other but would have required me to move my family to northern Virginia. One paid less but I liked the business and knew it would be a good place for my family. I chose less money but in the end have ended up making more, enjoying my life more, and having far more stability.

Maybe before calling others "morons"... you need to learn how to make value assessments beyond immediate "money" offers.

It is a factor. It isn't the only factor for everyone. Some are foolish enough making it the primary thing. Lots of guys like that will end up losing their NIL and in the portal looking for a new start. Ever worked with someone whose only focus was THEIR promotion, fame, or raise? They're terrible team mates... and almost always end up flaming out.

PS- it has been a few years back now but the higher offer was over $100K. They lower offer was more than $25K less. It wasn't an easy decision... but easily the right one.

Never said it wasn’t about money. All I am saying is money isn’t the most important factor. But continue your diatribe.

A great player can go pro from virtually any school. It isn't much more difficult for a good player to go pro from UT as tOSU if any.

Recruits have all sorts of reasons to go to a particular school. Sometimes it is the perceived NFL advantage. Sometimes they're mercenaries like @freedom fighter seems to think all are. Sometimes it is trust and a relationship with a coach. Sometimes it is the fans or the campus or a pretty girl from the recruiting visit.

I don't know this kid. Maybe some of you do. But the reasons kids choose a particular school varies as much as the kids vary.

You do realize they beat #1 overall Bama to get into that national championship game don't you?

Except for most people it is.

And probably 95% of these kids haven't seen this sort of money in their life before. If it's a significant difference in money, you can bet the house that the majority of prospects will be heading to the place offering more money.

If a person doesn't understand this then there's no need to even discuss it any further. Kids want to be developed and get drafted. Then comes playing with other talent and winning. Also factored in is how much a school can offer them which includes education, money, and campus life (to kp it clean).

You’re forgetting when they came from behind to put a beatdown on ‘Bama in the first playoff. That was fun to watch.

Everybody talking about it, he’s a legacy, he’s in state, UT offense proving it’s pretty good, UT not self imposing bowl ban (ncaa cloud not looming anymore/can’t be negative recruited by other coaches)
The ncaa cloud isn’t gone yet

The ncaa cloud isn’t gone yet
There’s not going to be a bowl ban. That’s all recruits care about. We will lose some scholarships and recruiting time, but the actual players just don’t want to be hurt by the sanctions, and they won’t. If there was any chance of a bowl ban, we would self impose this first one. We put way too much time and money into the investigation to not be as informed as possible on where we stand

Even if we feel sure….. it won’t keep other teams from telling recruits that we are going to get hammered until the ncaa finally says one way or the other…..
