'22 TN ATH/RB Dallan Hayden (Ohio State commit)

Except for most people it is.
Can you prove that? For the last 20 years I've lived in communities where almost everyone sacrificed making more money for a better lifestyle. Before that I lived mostly in suburbs for several years. Many people there said they would give up money for a lower cost of living and less traffic, congestion, et al.

And probably 95% of these kids haven't seen this sort of money in their life before. If it's a significant difference in money, you can bet the house that the majority of prospects will be heading to the place offering more money.
Kids lack wisdom so this may be more true for them. Many may do it. Most of those who do... will end up burned.

Even if we feel sure….. it won’t keep other teams from telling recruits that we are going to get hammered until the ncaa finally says one way or the other…..
True. But that's a risky move on their part. As soon as the NCAA says its part, no matter what it says, UT can then accuse those rival recruiters of lying to the player.

They won’t rule for 2-3 years…. I really don’t think it will matter to those recruits at that time.

There’s not going to be a bowl ban. That’s all recruits care about. We will lose some scholarships and recruiting time, but the actual players just don’t want to be hurt by the sanctions, and they won’t. If there was any chance of a bowl ban, we would self impose this first one. We put way too much time and money into the investigation to not be as informed as possible on where we stand

The NCAA could easily step in and say we aren’t going to a bowl game. There is still a HUGE dark cloud hanging over us. Tons of uncertainty still exists.

If they do then UT should either sue them or simply say no.

I'm shocked no one has sued them yet. The "justice" they mete out is completely arbitrary. They give no credit for self-discipline while rewarding those that stonewall. Favored programs get a slap on the wrist while others get hammered.

I don't recall a program taking more extreme measures than what UT appears to have taken. They removed coaches, staffers, and administrators who were involved completely. They appear to have asked the players involved to leave. They created their own scholarship reduction and "bowl ban" by decimating their own roster. Heupel's impressive performance is the only reason UT has a bowl potential.

Other than a bowl ban... what could the NCAA reasonably do to UT beyond what UT did to itself?

The NCAA hasn't even sent a notice of allegation yet. Zero chance that will act fast enough to ban us from a bowl this year.

I don’t think they will do anything. But I am not gonna say there is zero chance. They could decide to make an example of us. The problem is there is no definitive answer either way.

I tend to agree but all I am saying is the possibility exists that the NCAA could do something. I don’t know what the NCAA could do beyond what TN did to itself. Likely nothing but who knows!

I agree with the point that jsut because UT didn't give ourselves a bowl ban that doesn't mean the NCAA won't. But the NCAA never does anything quickly enough to affect this year.
Probably won't be resolved by this time next year either.

It took them like 5 years to bring the hammer down on Ok State.

I feel like in a couple years we are going to hear a lot of stories about kids that are promised NIL deals that are never delivered. I think some of these kids will get recruited over and then end up transferring a couple years in and getting lost in the shuffle. I don’t think that’s the case with Hayden as I think he is a player who will compete for playing time by his second year in a program. But what happens if after the papers are signed and the NIL deals never materialize.

The good players left because they felt Heupel would not allow their same $$$ . Look why Henry T went to bama and 3 players to OKLA. it is always the $$$$$

The deals are signed in advance and put in drawer, SIMPLE

If kids can change their mind and transfer after they sign a NLI, I can change my mind after I sign a kid to a NIL deal.
Tit-for-Tat

Nope. Even if that were true of those particular guys... that would not make it true of everyone. You are engaging in projection. You have particular moral and ethical positions... might even be called defects... so you either assume that everyone else does also or choose to believe so because it allows you to self-justify.

HT almost went to Bama initially. NIL made a payoff unnecessary. His plan is likely to enter the draft after this year regardless. I have no idea whether Gray or Morris are getting "paid" and you don't either. If they are then OU got ripped off. Lawrence is having a good year but why would they pay him when he had done absolutely nothing in his college career? There were open questions about his devotion to playing and effort.

Bottom line. Not everyone thinks like you. Thank the Lord.

I mean from a sports standpoint, you consistently see most players taking highest contract possible, instead of going for places they are better "fits" it staying with their home club for less money.

You're speaking anecdotally. Anecdotally for me, the opposite is your is true.
