I know his stats were down but scales, tape measures and stopwatches don't lie. I just believe it would be a mistake to turn this guy down. It appears we've taken worse players than Reggie. Oh well, I trust the coaches. But It won't be a surprise if we take him if he wants to come.
It's always debatable and cannot be proven for a couple of years but going down our list of signees and commits there's at least 6-7 guys I wouldn't take over him. None of has seen all of these guys play or scouted them in camp so just going by the most information I can gather I will take Grimes over several of the ones we have.Who have we taken that is worse?
I’m not being contrite, but have you seen Grimes play in person? I have. I’m not a scout, but I don’t have to be a scout to see the guy does not make plays in games vs competition that he should dominate......even just giving 50%.I know his stats were down but scales, tape measures and stopwatches don't lie. I have not. But I believe if he wants to come to UT Pruitt will take him in a heartbeat. I also know you don't find 6'4" 240lb guys with sub 4.6 speed under every rock. Maybe he needs a little inspiration and motivation.I’m not being contrite, but have you seen Grimes play in person? I have. Mid 70’s.....I was 5 or 6 lol. I do remember reading the Banner to see who signed where. I know he has all the measurables, but he doesn’t show it on the field. If there is one spot left in Feb.....maybe take a flier on him. JMO........but it would be a pass if I was in charge. Good thing for UT I’m not!I have not. I'm far from a recruiting expert but I've been following this since the days when you turned to the second or third page of the Banner or Tennessean the day after signing day to see who was coming to play for Tennessee. Most fans never even knew when signing day came and went. Do you remember the old SEC Letter of Intent that was instituted sometime in the early or mid seventies I believe ?

I did say I trust the coaches who actually have seen them.

I live close to Ravenwood too. I agree with you. I'm afraid Reggie is having a hard time finding a place to land. I wish him the best. Maybe Kiffin will come calling. Shouse, teammate, signed with OM. Someone said in an earlier post that Reggie was the big guy standing next to the pile. I hate to say, but that is true. Maybe a gear will kick in during college or he may just decide he does want to play football.No. I live close to Ravenwood, so I got to see Grimes a few times.
Video tech has come a long way. You think "every offer" the coaches gave out were of players they saw play in person??
I'll put it like this,
Why hasn't Mizzou taken him? North Carolina? Kentucky is very present in the state now recruiting wise, and they haven't pursued him. He tried to commit to Clemson and they straight up said "you can't"
Bama where his father won a national title, didn't offer him. No one in the SEC wanted him...there's no mystery as to why.
No grade concerns. No disciplinary "red flags".
But when it comes to actual football. He's never even been the best player on his own team!
Well, I don't want the slob now. Thanks for the scouting report.Video tech has come a long way. You think "every offer" the coaches gave out were of players they saw play in person??

All that writing to say he should be an OT?If Pruitt really wanted this kid he would have been made a priority in the last week no matter what his commitment status was. It appears that Pruitt and Co. did not even reach out to him. Why is that? It's because our coaches are continuing to evaluate kids during the season. The kid is a workout warrior which caught their eye but obviously did not pass their game evaluation. If you watch the kid he is clearly disengaged during games and shys away from contact. And this is just my personal opinion based off watching 5 of his games, he does not project well to any position. He doesn't have the wiggle or burst to play RB, he doesn't have the burst or moves to play DE or OLB he doesn't have the motor to play either position. He doesn't have the hands or ball skills to play TE and is too large to play in the defensive secondary. This is why I threw out the the thought that maybe the best projection is to put weight on his frame and try him at OT? He is obviously athletic that would help with the lateral movement and footwork of the position you would just have to somehow put the dog into him to run block.
