'20 TN ATH Reggie Grimes (Oklahoma commit)

I need some clarification. On 247 it shows him with 6 offical visits and now he is out of options. I am curious do we offer him a flier if we end up without DW? I could see him as a TE/DE and we figure it out. Do you think this is a case I'd reality? I saw Percy Harvin in HS and he was a POS and a lazy guy but he was electric and a POS on UF.

The only reason we are talking fliers and what not on these kids, 10 years of mediocre recruiting and sub par seasons leave us with a feeling of mediocrity!
Offer him a PWO with a chance to earn scholly later just for the heck of it. Grimes is losing fans quick if everyone is backing off. He might consider it is best option in the near future.

Hopefully people aren't ITT making fun of this kid getting their kicks off because they want to gloat how right they are that maybe the kids production is being called into question. I think he will land somewhere good and maybe play with a chip. I have not heard anything negative about his character.

Welcome RG Sr. 😬

I said his junior season I didn’t see anything that warranted him being rated highly. Nothing has changed. Like you said he is a good kid. Nothing would please me more than seeing him be successful and prove me wrong. Hopefully it’s here as a PWO.

I hate to be negative about a kid but I’ve seen him play three times now and was let down. He didn’t do anything to stand out and got lost in the crowd.
Didn’t get “lost in the crowd,” he just stood next to the crowd as they made the tackle.

Sounds like a case of him not really wanting to play football. Let me start off by saying that I know nothing about his situation.

My guess is that his father being a former player made him feel pressure to play ball. He probably doesn't want to disappoint his dad/family and all the other people who think it's a no-brainer due to his elite measurables. Probably does enjoy the attention he gets from it and the friendships with teammates.

He probably also realizes that it would be stupid to turn down a free education but he doesn't love the game enough to put in the work and is just going through the motions.

Football is not a game you can excel at if your heart isn't in it. Lots of conjecture in this post but I don't think I'm too far off. Hope this kid finds something he loves doing and is successful.

If he 100% wanted to sign AND they 100% wanted him to sign, why wouldn't he go ahead and do it? Why wait?

According to tennessean he is concerned about possible coaching changes at OK. Riley has been mentioned as being considered for other jobs.
I suspect U of O will pay what it takes to keep him there, but who knows. He's still in a weak conference.

Really hoping Lincoln goes elsewhere before we have to play them next year.

Kongbo 2.0
Kongbo showed some flashes after receiving some coaching from this staff, but then he got hurt. Makes you wonder what he could have done if coached properly from the beginning.

Wonder if Grimes would respond to coaching? Also wonder if he could flourish as a TE?

If that's the case, the kid needs to be honest with his father or better yet, the father needs to open his eyes and sit down and have a heart to heart with his son. Find out what he really wants to do in life and if it's not football, he should hug his son and tell him to walk away from it and start doing the things that really satisfy him and make him happy. Carry this charade on for too long and something will snap. A son feeling he's disappointed his father or a father being blind to what he's doing to his son by placing this burden on him can turn into a very dark and sometimes tragic outcome.

He is at the wrong end of a lot of negative comments, he isn't a Tennessee signee or target, so whats up with the daily drag in the mud? R.Grimes is a high school kid let him enjoy the recruiting process.
Still don’t see how his enjoyment is being curtailed by a message board. Price of being highly rated on his way to a free education and whatever’s beyond that depending on what he does with his athletic talent.

Is there any real news here? I’m only interested because this has been one of the strangest recruitments of any player I’ve ever seen?
