'24 TN CB Jaren Sensabaugh

I am sure you think so. Do you think UCLA is some kind of powerhouse program?
Why would you say you’re “sure” I think so? I’ve said many times I don’t know how good he is. I’m just wondering if this makes him good in the eyes of people like you who evaluate based on things other than evaluation.

Interesting. So Ray Davis just came out of HS this year?

Considering Ray Davis was also a three star whom committed to Vandy at one time, my point still holds value.

Hate Vandy all you want but they’ve had some good players.

You have no clue how this guy will do in college.

Subtle. I like it. And *wandering.

Watched his highlights (yes Ik doesn't tell who story for a corner) and they looked pretty impressive IMO. Good length and is a good, fluid athlete. Closing speed is good. Shut down Tyreek King against Catholic. Looks to be coached pretty well and has football in the family. Say whatever you want about the people around him and but he looks like a good recruit IMHO. Don't get the hate on him as a player other than offer/stargazers

Weak competition. Like you said weak offer list. You can laugh at stargazers all you want but the teams that win at the highest clip, the apex teams of college football don’t recruit guys like this out of HS.

They are in the best division in the state of Tennessee. 7 of the top 9 ranked 2024s are in that division. 4 of the top 6 2025s. His schedule against that divison created matchups against Tyreek King, Kaleb Beasley/Dillon Lorlick, Brandon Nicholson, Charlie Becker, Amari Jefferson/Cam Sparks for him this season. Same division as Kaleb Beasley now that LA finally moved back up prior to last season...

What happens when Martinez contract is not renewed I really believe this will happen. I think we can find dB coach who teaches kids to turn their heads and play the ball. And teach our kids to play press man Nad tight zone coverage.

Some of us think he isn’t that good. Some of us think that this staff should be able to do much better than a Vandy decommit at CB.
You can question his ability. I’m not sure how good he is, either.

But being recruited by Vandy, or being committed to Vandy, or even playing at Vandy, isn’t an indication of the caliber of a player today.

The Vandy narrative is a poor one.

We won’t play press man until the staff feels they have the talent and athleticism to play press man. So those young athletic guys we have need to prove it on the practice field. They need to develop, bigly, this off-season.

Banks wants to blitz and play man. They clearly don’t feel comfortable lining our guys up in man. But they still blitz. That part is a little questionable. Leaves a lot of open space.

He's wrong about weak competition.

But he's not wrong about recruiting better guys. I think the staff is doing their best. But maybe their best 4th in the SEC every year. Which is fantastic from a national standpoint. Maybe it gets us within striking distance every 4 years??

LSU, Texas, OU, Bama, UGA aren't banging on this kids door. Maybe not even an Ole Miss.
Do those schools get evaluations wrong? Sure they do.
However, i would say they get them correct much more often.

Would you take this kid over a Domello Jones? Ellis Robinson? Charles Lester?
How about a Mario Buford -3 star out of Desoto, TX?

We have to do better...we can't keep blaming Martinez if he doesn't have the guys to execute.

So after 3 years we couldn’t recruit the players to play man? Or develop them to be able to play man? Sounds like it still falls on Martinez/Banks. And if we DO have the players, who are just riding the bench because the staff chooses seniority over skill, then that is another major issue

Yes they do, but only if their own evaluations (not the recruiting sites) tell them they like the player. Whether you understand it or not, college coaches don't defer to recruiting sites, even if you do.

But I guess Nick Saban was wrong to offer Josh Jacobs, a composite 3* who wasn't even offered by home state Oklahoma. I mean, they beat out Missouri and Iowa State for that loser.

As for the "weak competition" comment, you're clearly throwing **** against the wall and hoping it will stick. That's not remotely true. You don't have a clue how good Sensabaugh is or isn't. You're simply playing a game of odds, not actual evaluation.

Georgia and Alabama have started lower rated guys and even walk ons for years…. Levi wallace…. Starting cb Levi Wallace for the steelers is a prime example. You do need the majority to be higher rated guys though.

everyone is fighting for those types of DBs…. There aren’t a whole lot of them out there…. It was stated that the investigation was hindering us… we do need to do a better job moving forward though.

The best thing about this is… if he were to come here and prove us wrong… we get to all benefit watching on Saturdays. If he doesn’t…. Nobody will remember this thread and there will be countless others as we continue the age old debate of stars. Win win

Just an observation and guessing but seems like when Heup took over, he chose to reward guys who stuck around helped him build his vision.

As much as people shat on a complete opposite approach - Deion’s at Colorado - you’d think more folks would endorse Heup’s strategy so far of rewarding those guys.

Maybe now we start seeing better players on the field. But again, just guessing.

Sure you do, the ones dogging him are doing so for one reason, Former Vandy! Vandy being the reason to the super evaluators on here..

Tennessee will host one high school recruit on campus this week in Jaren Sensabaugh. The Ensworth cornerback has continued to have a positive dialogue with the staff of late, and he spent time with Tim Banks earlier this week during the contact period. He is still scheduled to take an official visit to Missouri next weekend, so this decision will likely not be made until closer to signing day.

Let me know when this guy gets an Alabama offer.
