'24 TN CB Jaren Sensabaugh

And his Dad doesn’t even live in the state anymore so it’s not like he will be driving to campus everyday yelling through the fence at practice.
Not being a butt. But, I believe - according to Gerald - they bought a home in E TN. He has several businesses in the area, his wife also.

Again, my dealings are business related. Folks I know who know him in the Model City say he and his fam are on the lake quite often in the summer.

His wife is from left coast. It is entirely possible they have home there as well.

While most of what you're saying is true.
BOT is correct in assuming we're going after this kid because we've missed on so many.

Chances are this kid will have an impact.
Gerald Sensnbaugh was also a 2 star and he made it to NFL out of ETSU then North Carolina. Coty Sensnbaugh was another late addition to Clemson's class and ended up winning a starting spot at CB over 2 Five Stars, and then also made it to the NFL. So he comes from a family of successful NFL pedigree.

No BOT can't evaluate at all, but he's right about the correlation.
From what I've read and been told, Tennessee wanted Sensabaugh as well as Bates. Although I'm not convinced they're the same position.

He sold his house in ETN a while back. He has investment properties and what not so I’m sure he has a place to stay. Having said that he no longer resides in the state.

Nice try Gerald, not fooling anyone.
lol. that would be nice, id like the boat and the lambo. but having never played a down of football in my life...and also being from the sticks in Creek of Boones.

One might infer that im hamstrung by slow twitch muscle. Jimmy the Greek would call me a saltine.

With limited spots, I think taking a CB from the portal would be better. We're losing so many DBs to the portal and graduation that I think a more experienced corner from the portal would help this team more. Not to mention I don't trust CWM to coach these kids up.

You just gotta get out there and work like heck.

I trust him to 'coach them up.' In three or four years. We need immediate help. So wth waste a scholly on a lower ranked dude who will likely transfer anyway? Bring in a big time transfer with multiple years, or save it for a big time 25 kid. It just makes no sense.

Honestly, I feel like we're currently looking for "diamonds in the rough" in the high school and JuCo ranks and ignoring more talented players in the portal. I don't understand the staff's aversion to the transfer portal.

because we blew our cash wad on the current roster.

It is entirely POSSIBLE that the timing of our offer was tempered by the fear of family not the analysis of his talent. All kinds of factors in EVERY risk/reward calculation. Don't know how to validate or refute the father's impact on his offers referenced in this thread. I will not demonstrate the same level of uninformed arrogance and make it a declarative statement based on any reading between the lines that most detractors have. Factual talent evaluations from the war room are really hard to come by.

I do have to wonder if the quantity and quality of his rankings by the services were impacted by the same factor. Throw out a middle of the road ranking in safety first mode and get busy elsewhere.

I am looking forward to the final numbers of HS and portal solutions this cycle since I don't think any of the portal entries were surprises to the staff after the post season evaluation meetings with the players. Do we not still have this portal window and one more in the spring? Gotta believe we can improve the secondary with a little NIL assistance in both windows without tampering by utilizing player networking after some winks in the locker room. Reducing room size can only help get interest in joining us, so I expect even more defections.

ON THE OTHER HAND, coaching changes COULD be problematic for those inbound guys seeking knowns about scheme and fit. Unless we bring in a new high profile position coach with lots of potentially mobile kids that love him. LOTS of variables in this solution path. Like how many keepers exit with a change. Too many think it can't get worse. Bet that potential is out there too. UGH...

Just hoping that Heupel and staff are ready in any event this may turn out. Have been torn on this one, but that's only because of being up here in the TRI and knowing a lot of the history and people involved firsthand.

But at the end of the day, the kid certainly shouldn't be judged by the actions or personalities of his family and if Heupel sees something here, then it's time to trust the process and hope this is the next VFL in the making.

On Hudl, he's usually 7-9 yards off the ball and makes sure tackles after the catch which is way better than our departing guys tackled. With that cushion, he certain appears to fit for our defensive philosophy. Didn't appear to be terribly quick or athletic. Kinda "decently solid". Like you, I think we would be better served getting a guy with multiple years from the portal. This kid might blossom like others in his family but more likely he ends up in the portal in a year or two.

As much as I agree with you, I’m 99% certain something happened at Knox Catholic that specifically involved him and not just Dad that caused them to bolt from there and start crying all sorts of crazy typical Sensabaugh stuff. Also being from the Tri Cities, I just have a nasty taste in my mouth when it comes to the Sensabaugh baggage.

I'm not sure why. He's developed a lot of good players for us and put many in the league. Kamal Hadden, Alontae Taylor, Theo Jackson, Trevon Flowers, Cam Sutton, Justin Coleman, Emmanuel Moseley, Nigel Warrior, Todd Kelly Jr.... and while he was at UCF he coached Richie Grant who had six interceptions as a sophomore and was a Thorpe Award finalist as a junior.

I completely understand and right there with you. Lived through the drama at Crockett and DB, really closely at one, so that’s where my hesitation is sourced. There’s a LOT to unpackage around those two alone.

I don’t know much other than rumblings about Catholic. Doesn’t seem far off the mark but without knowing the full story from people involved, I can’t base a lot on it.

Regardless, I’m going to hope for the best and put my trust in with the staff. My brain says otherwise, but I’m going to go with the heart on this one.

We must do similar things.
