Why do people say he isn't a good head coach? Just out of hatred?

He beat us and he's winning at Missouri. That's not an easy thing to do. He's recruiting great too.

You may not like him, but "not a good coach" doesn't add up
Cmon man we took them to the woodshed 22'..Plus he just says some real Cringeworthy Butch Jones type ish....

So by your metric Billy Napier is a good coach right?

He took a bad roster and developed talent pretty well. You can't deny that, if he's able to do what we couldn't and maintain trajectory I could buy him as a legit good to very good coach.

FWIW I still think he's a dork.

Drinkiwtiz is a good coach. He found a winning formula for that roster this year.
He then got the in-state NIL law going in Mssouri for recruits as well.

He'was good at App State too. Won the Sun Belt his 1st year i think.
SEC Coach of the year this season in 2023.

Anyone saying heś a bad coach is absolutely ridiculous.
Not every coach has to suck, so that ours can be good.

Child minds...

He was at App for one year, didnā€™t coach the bowl game. Playing with Satterfields recruits. He caught lightning in a bottle this year. And is damn lucky the state changed its NIL rules that high schoolers can make money. I donā€™t think heā€™s a bad coach but heā€™s not some second coming like the media is making him out to be.

Letā€™s not forget his cowardly jab at mid field after the game this year. Very mousy little man

I donā€™t think heā€™s bad, but I donā€™t think heā€™s very good either. Heā€™s sitting at somewhere in the middle for me currently.

He caught lightening in a bottle this year, and probably will again in the future, but I donā€™t see him fielding a team that consistently competes year in and year out.

Competes for what year in and year out? There are only like 4-5 programs in all of CFB that compete for a NC basically every year.

The rest of us are looking for consistency so when we have a year where we find a little something extra we can take advantage of it and make a run.

Heup seems to be that. Weā€™ll see if Drink can be that. 1 good year so far.

What constitutes a good coach? A coach that can win with what they have, right? Both ED and JH caught lightening in a bottle. Both teams have to do more with less, and win with their identity.

This is his first winning record at Mizzou. Heā€™s not on Heupā€™s level. Could get there, not there. Thereā€™s levels to this.

Competitive in the sense that they routinely have the talent and scheme to threaten the teams they play yearly.

He had a great year this year, but also got blown out by CJH in his first year with a skeleton crew roster. Thereā€™s just too much mixed results at this point to shift my opinion on Drink too far one way or the other.

And while I do think CJH is a good coach, objectively I can understand that Iā€™m biased because he coaches the team I want to win. If we backslide to 6-6 or something like that, itā€™ll be hard to continue feeling that way without it being blind faith.

A coach that can win with what they have consistently. Tons of coaches catch lightening in a bottle and canā€™t sustain it.

Butch won a lot at CMU and Cincy where they have limited resources, hell he even had a couple of very strong seasons here. Would you consider him a good coach?

Brohm coached with Satterfieldā€™s recruits this year at Louisville. Offensive line was strong

It is yet to be seen. He has Arkansas State in a bowl game this year. AState was a mess when he took over. Especially on defense.

I think Butch would be a good coach on a small stage. There was too much pressure on the big stage for him. I think coaching here, broke him. KS walked into a perfect situation for any coach. Stocked cupboards and willingness to skirt the rules. We got the exact opposite with cornbread.
Jimbo spent a boat load of money to get the best players and still couldn't win because he didn't spend enough on a QB. He had defense and WR, RB, but QB he went bargain bin.

I think we really wanted this kid but Missouri ended up wanting him more as far as NIL package. They had also been pursuing him for a lot longer than Tennessee. As for me personally I wouldā€™ve liked to have had this kid or a similar CB added but I donā€™t think itā€™s a big miss either. You can add similar or better via the portal.

Butch followed Brian Kelly at CMU and Cincy. Culture, Player development, etc. had already been established.

Did we not already do that? Still a lot of portal time left to maybe add another if that is the staff's desire.
