Those of us old enough will always remember Brian Darden- the absolutely can’t miss best that’s ever bend or ever will be tailback from Mississippi.
I cheer for who we get and don’t worry about the others.
Chris Donald, dude was jumping OVER fools and sacking QB's. How that dude was a missHe’s up there with OJ Owens, Chris Donald, and Kenny O’Neal. Travis Cozart too, although he didn’t so much bust as he just let off the field issues derail him. Cozart was going to be an absolute star.
Because every insider close to the program plus Boo has said they’re recruiting him to play defense, and there’s been 1 player in the SEC in my lifetime that I can remember playing both sides of the ball and that was Malcolm Mitchell and he eventually moved full time to WR after 1 year. There’s been only 4 others I can think of that’s done it at the P5 level the past 10-15 years and Myles Jack and Jabrill Peppers were the only ones that did it full time for the majority of their career. Ray Ray McLeod played WR at Clemson for a majority of his career then played DB the last couple of games one year because they needed the depth. Charles Nelson did pretty much the same thing as McLeod at Oregon. This isn’t the SWAC where guys can play full time on both sides of the ball. Playing both sides of the ball simply isn’t something a lot of DBs are capable of doing at the P5 level. There’s far too much running involved and too much of the playbook on both sides they have to learn. Even Charles Woodson only played offense for a few games and was a true impact for maybe 1-2 of them. Giving Boo 4-5 direct snaps or jet sweeps/screens per game on offense likely isn’t going to be enough to be considered him playing offense. This time last year his future may have been at DB, but I would say that after he saw he was uncoverable when he went to a camp a couple of weeks back he likely was told his future was just as bright at WR as it was on defense and considering WRs get paid a hell of a lot more than safeties in the NFL he’s probably realized he might be better off playing offense. I’ve always thought his future was on offense just because of how electric he is with the ball in his hands. In our offense he has DeAnthony Thomas/Tavon Austin type potential if they want to use him that way. Or even Jaylen Waddle type potential if they wanted to use him as a more traditional WR. In my opinion he’s a better WR prospect than Dubose and potentially Kamron Mikell. Mikell may be a better athlete and physical specimen, but he has no experience at playing the position. Boo already does and will most likely be playing exclusively at WR on offense during his senior year since Bradley already has J’Alan Terry and the Wilson kid at RB who is a stud. From his highlight plus the 7v7 clips I’ve seen along with what I’ve heard from a coach or two at Bradley his route running definitely isn’t an issue, and he has plenty of speed and shiftiness. So I’m really not sure why they don’t want to take him on offense. Especially considering our WR room will be razor thin next seasonHow do we know that the coaches are NOT going to let him play offense??
Wouldn't call it razor thin. Squirrel has to stay, Thornton could come back, will have a lot of talented young receivers, and will probably get someone from the portal for the outside. Staff has gotten one portal wideout every year (Payton, Bru, Thornton)Because every insider close to the program plus Boo has said they’re recruiting him to play defense, and there’s been 1 player in the SEC in my lifetime that I can remember playing both sides of the ball and that was Malcolm Mitchell and he eventually moved full time to WR after 1 year. 6-7 wr is pretty thin, 10-12 is avg, probably take 4 plus a transferWouldn't call it razor thin. kinda have to when the sec is nothing but 6'1-6'2 dbs, don't think boo has the top end speed that SQ hasEven then we'll be fine on the inside where Boo would be restricted to. Could have potentially Squirrel, Thornton, Matthews, another 2024 recruit can all play inside. Staff likes big receivers with the exception of Squirrel
this kids future is at CB, specialiast. but id he wants to play slot, more power.Because every insider close to the program plus Boo has said they’re recruiting him to play defense, and there’s been 1 player in the SEC in my lifetime that I can remember playing both sides of the ball and that was Malcolm Mitchell and he eventually moved full time to WR after 1 year. I'm not sure how good our young Receiver's are outside of Leacock. None of then showed anything in the spring game when they had the chance to impress. Lots of drops. But you never know if or when the light will come on for them.
