'18 TN DE Emmitt Gooden (Tennessee signee)

Tbh i like what this years dl looks like (without Gooden, with Solomon) over last years. Just based on size that is**. Lot of ifs, but definitely a lot of potential. Between Middleton, Savion, Emerson, Kingston and Simmons they have pretty much ZERO game experience. But that doesn’t mean they won’t be awesome for us.

At least they will get 3 good warmup games b4 Florida. BYU scares me a little.

Just awful news. He wasn't a sure thing, but he was the closest we had to a reasonable expectation of a competent SEC D-lineman, Solomon excluded. I know injuries are part of the game, and every team gets them, but many teams have a lot more proven depth than we do, and one projected starter going down in the first week of drills doesn't bode well with a lot of season left to play. I'm not jumping ship or anything, but this is just an unadulterated negative development. No way to spin it. Sheesh.

To paraphrase the guy on Veronica Mars, "we're big Vols fans, so we're accustomed to misery."

It was hyperbole designed to assault the ridiculous nature of your post that one DL missing is going to cause us to win two less games. I apologize if it was too far over your head for you to see it.
If he is indeed gonna be out the whole year it certainly hurts us depth wise but we just have to hope the young guys will contribute right away. It really boils down to a depth standpoint. While I certainly think Gooden was the most proven playmaker, there is plenty of talent on the roster to hopefully minimize the impact it will have on the season as a whole

People are so fickle...

This place is like one big roller coaster of emotions. I will let yal ride this one down... I will see you when you get back up to the top.
Its nuts. VQ is melting down as well. It's like people forget injuries are apart of the game. Or that they happen to everyone. Sure it sucks, especially at DL, but geez the meltdowns over a single injury make me wonder how people get through real life. I have zero patience for a weak mindset. Many of our fans need serious mindset work.

You both suck......pal

If some people think our season is down the drain over 1 player, then the product we were putting on the field wasn’t gonna be that great anyway. At least the coaches can focus on getting the next man ready.
It's gonna come down to Oline and if the DLine is serviceable. OLine needs to be really good IMO. QB needs time to throw to our great WRs this year and not take so many shots(hits) like he did last year.

Win more than 2 conference games in 2 years would go a long way in that department.

I'm not a "welp the season is over" type.

But it's not uncommon knowledge that health in the DL and front 7 in general was going to be key in determining what kind of season we could have.

And that is our most experienced guy that is down...is notable.

If nothing else our thin margin for error just got thinner.

You can't blame fans for anxiety at this point. It's literally been one s**t sandwich after another. We just keep putting salt and pepper on it hoping it's gonna taste better.

Why should this be any different? Lol

Agree. 4 weeks to fill the hole. Go get it. Opportunity is knocking for someone.
